Severn Valley Strongman Novice 2008. Date 21st June. Venue Whitminster playing fields. Gloucester Start time 11am Events Farmers walk or frame carry. Novice 100kg per hand or 200kg. BSW 70kg per hand or 140kg Round robin max axle overhead clean and press starts lightish gets heavier - last man-standing style. Arm over arm and drag. Novice 220kg arm over arm 25m drag 25m back. (Weight subject to testing) BSW 140kg arm over arm 25m drag 25m back. (Weight subject to testing) NB: weights depend on condition of the ground (wet, bumpy, uphill etc) Loading race barrels and stones. Novice 5 items ranging from 90kg to 120kg. BSW 5 Items ranging from 50kg to90kg Conans wheel Novice only 260kg max distance. Yoke. BSW women only 180kg All events will be done on grass. All events are subject to change (weather and conditions can change but we will endeavour to keep them similar and announce as much as we can ahead of time). See below: The entry fee will be £10 in Jan, £12 Feb, £14 March, £16 April, £18 May, £20 June and on the day £25. Every one will get a contest t-shirt and I hope a few other bits and bob’s. Directions. The best way to find us is it to make your way to junction 13 on the M5. If travelling north bound then you need to turn left at the top of the slip road go to the next roundabout and take the 3rd exit you will then go up a hill you will see a garden centre on the left hand side about 30m after the garden centre entrance there is a left turn (watch out for speed camera at top of hill) turn left there go over the roundabout keep an eye out for Whitminster infants school there is a small lane to the left hand side of the school that is where you will find us. Postcode for the school is GL2 7PJ use this for your route finders or GPS South bound as above apart from turn right when leaving J13 M5 slip road. Hi Mike, I kind of like the thought behind the fee, but I will on the other hand also say that it would be more fair if the weights for the events were posted before the fee starts going up. I have had a couple of bad competitions lately due to signing up very early and then the competitions have totally changed and it left me thinking about pulling out or step up to a plate I would never get anything out of (due to the weights being VERY heavy). I competed both times, but I must say that I am not sure what I got out of it except spending a lot of Monkey on travelling and so on.... Good luck with the competition! Hanne |

All weights will be posted with in the next 7 days just wanted to get some info out there. The Womans side will most likely be free entry as it is for a national title. |

any idea of the weights that are likely to be used yet? i know i will probably get flack for this, and you will say its a novice, if your at novice level enter, but i've never done anything like this before, aslong as i can acctually move the stuff and i dont make it look like its glued to the floor then i'm good to go lol |
