Katona broke his ribs and Murumets probably tore a muscle in his back. Travis had some rib or oblique muscle problem in the last event.
Filiou, Haugen and Savoie did not abandoned the competition.

Everything about this competition was really great except the referee who was terrible.

At least i had a blast and learned alot!

Who was the ref? Glad to see L.P. do well in an international comp.

I'm glad they made the change to the Hip and Thigh lift. If you recall it originally was going to be most reps with 900 pound but I knew that was too light. Good that they made it a max lift. It would be cool if they would have a Paul Anderson Style back-lift next year.

Its also something else that Louis-Philippe Jean beat Poundstone and Big Z on the Overhead Press Medley. I am surprised Misha did not do better.

Oh BTW does anyone know what the world record is for the Hip and Thigh Lift?

It's probably because he got a chance to use the equipment. He's strong as a bull, but there's no way he can out press Derek and the Big Z?

Great vids!

Crowd was very appreciative - would have liked to have watched that myself.

Deadlift with the Sigmarrson wheels looked good, and so did the pressing medley, and yes Shawn those dumbells at the end looked hard work.

Yoke and stone carry were similar to normal strongman events.

I'm never a fan of Crucifix, can be tough to ref, and some of these guys might not even be able to straighten their arms.

The Back load carry and short range kind of Back/Hip Lift was similar to those events that they had in the old Canadian Le Defi comp in the 80's. Certainly not a Hand and Thigh lift, but actually looked better, and that weight must have been bloody heavy.

Power walk was some nice looking farmers apparatus with the globe ends, and the one arm pressing also had nice apparatus and looked heavy enough. Nice change.

They must have been trully knackered by the stone load, normal stones, and then those huge stones - but they looked awesome!

God knows how any of these guys could walk the day after - massive respect to all!!! :bow

From the videos, it looks a very succesfull comp.

Any competition these guys do from now on will seem like a walk in the park! I have to say Fortisimuss really did their home work here. I think we are all going to love watching this when it gets released. The equipment looked really great, old school and yet all new and shiny, lovely stuff. Poundstone doing those globe dumbbells that quickly was ridiculous! I still don't like high platforms for the stones. It's no surprise the tallest man (Wenta) won the stones. Make the stones heavier and lose the tacky if you want to make it harder! This is strongman not Tallman.

I know they got a decent payday from this but when you consider what bloody soccer players get paid it's peanuts. These guys went to hell and back for less than those girly footy players get in a week. That's just not right! That's my rant anyway.

Poundstone really could give Mariusz a run for his monkey in WSM. He moves well, obviously has great endurance as well as top end strength and he's hungry in EVERY event. Should be a good one this year.

TEXAS STONEMAN
I shot J.R
I just have to say that I am VERY proud of Poundcake!! He came out in just as good of shape as the week before at Madison Square Garden and never let up... This speaks volumes for his recovery ability and determination! I think there were a few people crying when he loaded that 517 stone and more than a few Strongmen with hair standing on end.
I, however, came out with nothing left from MSG. I just went through the motions all contest long and I had the worst luck of any contest I have ever done. Just stupid things kept screwing me up. That's part of the game though; it's as much mental as it is physical. I guess I can say that even under the worst circumstances I still took 5th in a really tough field.

That crowd was the best crowd I have ever competed in front of hands down. There were only about 800 people but they had enough intensity to make it feel like there were about 10,000!

Hmmm...I tend to doubt that. If you watch the videos, he has more trouble with the "non-standard" equipment (the first two implements)...but he manages to easily press the (standard) log and the pair of dumbells, (which Poundstone was unable to do).
