That looked like a great comp. Hard to tell from that abortion of a broadcast. Great stuff from Travis, surprised to see nobody finished the stones, blistering run for 3 from Dave O. though. Slightly more surprised to see what appeared to be ex-IFSA set of stone rings being used at a SS event...

Pain in the ass with the audio cutting out for the last heat in the last event...
Heh...that's exactly what I was thinking. I guess everyone toasted their lower back and hams on the deadlift. Looks like it was: 1. Travis 2. Poundstone 3. Dave Ostlund 4. Brian Shaw I'm happy for Travis -- he's been so good in IFSA. He'll do very well at WSM. Edited by GrantB, Jun 22 2008, 02:43 AM.

Yeah, that's how I had the standings too, with Felix and Oli in 5th and 6th. Killer performance by Travis though, didn't put a foot wrong all night. First place tie on the deadlift at 395kgs with Felix and Poundstone was amazing. Did NOT see that one coming. |

The IFSA log was used in the champs leagu e where Z did the 440..... IFSA = champs leagu e.

Man looks like it was a great show. Props to Ostlund, he's great. Hopefully the highlights will be around somewhat soon. I'm surprised Poundstone didn't take it out, even though I'm a huge Travis fan. I thought the deadlift would swing things in Poundstones favour, obviously not. Keen to see the results. |

True... but last night was a Super Series event, and they were using what was quite clearly ex-IFSA equipment = weird. I can't remember exactly how the lower placings were, but I do know Magnus was last (back went on the first event), Terry was second last (clearly in a lot of pain throughout the whole thing, only started 3 events and couldn't get the stone carry off the ground), Janne was next after getting some good points in the stone carry, Nee and Jarek were pushing for 6th place, and Philipi was under them, but not by much. I think. Pretty sure that's reasonable accurate. Magnus was in the commentary booth with Svend for the last 3 or 4 events which was kinda cool... Edited by Dougal, Jun 22 2008, 09:36 AM.

Awesome result for Travis, he's a quality strongman who's never quite peaked at the right time to place really high at the World's (a bit like Hugo) but can beat anyone when he's on form. This should be a major confidence boost beating Derek and it may be his year for the WSM title. It looks like Oli put in a good performance, especially as he went into the show with 2 broken ribs from BSM and a month old bicep fibre tear. |

fab competition, was great to be able to watch it live (thanks jon!) props to travis, derek and mark, should mix up WSM nicely! despite shabby coverage, the comedy commentary stylings of Svend and Magnus was magic! |

Excellent performance by Oli T, I honestly believe had the injurys not stopped Oli in his tracks then he probably would have won this comp or got a podium finish. |

Damn, thanks guys! This show was freaking awesome. A couple things: Derek was tough as iron. I had to be in perfect form on each event or he would have come back and taken it all. Dave and Brian are getting better all the time. I didn't even see Dave coming but the asshole beat me on the stones. Speaking of stones, that "420" is more like my 460! No one has ever loaded it yet but I think it will go down the next time I see it. In nearly 50 contests I have never missed a stone until that one... ...and for all the guys who came into this with injuries, I have the utmost respect for the way you fought through! That takes guts! |
