Other than that, the other suggestion that was made about using an English title wit the original title underneath or something may be a good idea. Maybe there are those out there who come across the sleeve image and see all the foreign tite and text and instantly don't bother looking any further as they presume that it will never have subtitles or whatever.

I agree too! English titles attract far more buyers, I'm 100% positive about it!

Is Bill reading these suggestions? What's your take on this, Bill??

but there is always a first time, isn't it?

For everything, buddy. ;)

Faces of Death & I drink your blood
There's a scan of the UK version of I DRINK YOUR BLOOD in this thread:

They're almost identical.

And yes the Aussie boxes where biig. Even the sell-thru boxes were big.

If you decide to buy VCDs I'd advise that you buy them from stores in Asia. Stores in the West tend to bump up the price because they figure people are willing to pay more since DVDs are more expensive in the West. You don't wanna pay 10, 15 or even 20 dollars for a VCD when you can get it from HK for 5 or 6 dollars. ;)

Dutch release of "Cannibal Holocaust"?
No offence to Belgian members but why is Brussels your fave city?
Doesn't it become city of the living dead when the EU offices close down in the afternoon.

I gotta question:
these VCDs, where do you guys order them, directly from Hong Kong, I suppose?

Yes, there are quite a few good online stores in Asia that sell them. Each section of Cinehound has a sticky thread where you can see stores that cover the countries in question.

You'll find the Asian stores here:

However, let me save you the trouble and just tell you to shop at www.dddhouse.com in Hongkong. They are the best place for HK movies (and fastest and cheapest).

My second choice is Yesasia (also in HK) where they have many VCDs from other Asian countries too (and of Western movies by the way, but there's really no point in buying those, lol).

I've found Rambu!

So, what's up with Mr. O' Brian...is the interview going to happen soon?

Ian and I are talking. ;) but how soon stuff is happening I can't tell you.

I have the Celestial CORPSE MANIA vcd (excellent quality for a vcd) and I like it! Most people whose reviews I've read didn't like it but I do (and Andras of this forum does as well, LOL). I think the problem is that it's been labelled a "giallo" and people who watch it for the first time expect a copy of the Italian giallos. Well, it's nothing of the kind! It's the same with all those fans of Italian cannibal movies who knock the Indonesian PRIMITIVES because they expect an Italian style cannibal movie. Again: it's not. But as a trashy Indo flick it's quite entertaining.

What country are you from?

Grimsby, England

And the setting for THIS IS ENGLAND, if I'm not mistaken.

I live in South London.

I recently bought DEAD MAN'S SHOES (easily one of thee best British films for many many years imo) and because I liked it so much I've just bought THIS IS ENGLAND (by the same director) (which again made me buy MADE IN BRITAIN, lol). Haven't watched it yet though.

, is it any good?

Is it any good? Did you miss the 2 posts above yours? ;)

Cool. If it's the lbx version it would be cool if you could check the pic quality, do the gore scenes look like they're taken from a video tape?

Yeah, there it is! One of my favourites!!!

I couldn't agree with you more, Wayne. I think the lack of an English title (in capital letters on the front) keeps people away from buying Onar films. I realise Bill may not want to change the original title because then it's not ... the original title! But if you want to attract the attention of the non-Turko film fans then I think this is a think you have to do! You and I know it's CELLAT. It doesn't take anything away from the film if it says TURKISH DEATH WISH on the cover. Bill, I really think you ought to consider using the English fan-titles.

With a film like CELLAT I'm sure some people who aren't turko trash film fans would have bought this DVD if they had known it was a Turkish Death Wish ripoff but they see it says CELLAT and don't know what the film is. And they DON'T bother to read the liner notes. Sad but true.

By the way, there was a member over at Dvdmaniacs who made a documentary film with incisive interviews with the director, I'll see if I can dig up a link to the film on YouTube.

I'm sure we had a thread about the VCD here somewhere but I can't find it now <_<

Anyway, yeah you're right that is one nasty film that's for sure. How many HK films feature gay rape scenes! Aparently it was banned after its initial cinema run in HK way back and since the VCD disapeared so quickly the rumour was it had been pulled again (because of its political message which probably doesn't go down well in China, i.e. the fact that people would excape from the Mainland to HK for a better life).

Here's Celestial's original release:

Only 500 individually numbered pieces (i've got 13/500) to so i wouldn't hang around to long for those toying with the idea of getting it.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case! Bill (of Onar) has mentioned numerous times there that they sell like shit (i.e. veeeery slowly!). You've got plenty of time to order a copy. I don't get it either, 500 copies is nothing, but that's the way it is. These Onar dvds get good reviews but don't sell anything other than to reviewers and Cinehound members. :(

Not coming from us, I'm afraid. No film elements and he wanted vast sums of money. Same deal with Killing of Satan. And then some bugger nicks it and puts it out without paying him a cent. And what does he do??? NADA!!!

It's a mad world, I tell you.

That is a mad (and sad) world! :( :(

Introducing Yourself !
Yeah, welcome to Cinehound. Kick yo feet up and realx. :D

I haven't seen it but I take it you like the film, and I'm gonna check it out for sure myself at some stage. But as Dirty Harry says opinions are like assholes everyone has got one  and listen to what this guy had to say at Amazon:

Pretty crap. Basic enough stuff about a weird family who cover up murders committed by their 'troubled' daughter. Has a twist ending that would have been interesting if the characters weren't all so carboard you'll have fallen asleep half-an-hour before it comes. The 'gore' is laughably amateurish and even the sex is boring. Stay away, unless you want a cure for insomnia.
