No, I'm like a pain. And as a bonus, you'll be forced to listen to this record the rest of your life:

Actually I don't what's the worst pain, you or that "band"!

…so, I think some fan recorded the English language track over the German audio track…another possibility is, that the tapes are so called 'Pressekopien' (can't remember the English word - pre-screening tapes ?) - tapes made for magazines, videoshop owners etc before they were released for the public customers…they were mostly uncut and sometimes in English…

And like I said in one of my earlier posts, it could very well be a fan but I'm more inclined to believe it's a Pressekopie/review copy - but who knows. Maybe we'll never find out.

Homo tapes = gay tapes!  :)

Here in Finland they also released quite many of those so called homo tapes and usually they were without subtitles!

Haven't heard of those.

Member-X too!    (mostly because Member-X needs to be banned on a daily basis)

That's why you should be banned on a daily basis also! :hi:

Don't worry. We won't be seeing Member-X again. HE IS OUT FOR GOOD!!! :hi: :silence!Ikillyou!:

About that "Firestorm" tape , I watched the movie together with the previous owner , and I don`t have a clue why it`s in english . Maybe they used an un-dubbed master by mistake , but I doubt it has been over-dubbed privately as the german tape should be uncut (if I`m not mistaken) ! If it was a press tape it would have a minute counter onscreen ! Seems some VHS mysteries will remain unsolved !

BTW, congrats Jack to your unique tape of "Firestorm"

Thanks. And thanks to Canisius for the cool tape (and Suicide Force which I also got on cool old German VHS).

I can't rule out that some film fan tampered with the tape but I don't think so. I think they either used a wrong master when they did the first copies or that this is a "promotional" copy (also simply called a "review copy") that was sent to magazines before the real print was made.

That's not good enough. You're banned for one month because of this. And Member-X too!  (mostly because Member-X needs to be banned on a daily basis)

German tapes dubbed in English???
But crazygoaboy mentioned the tape doesn't have German subs.
The cover says it does but does it or doesn't it?

German tapes dubbed in English???
The cover text is in German. Interestingly enough the cover states the film has German subs.

German tapes dubbed in English???
Seems there's less people here with hardcore knowledge of 1980s German releases than what I would have thought. :P

Oh well, maybe we'll never find out but I still choose to believe my tape is a genuine English dubbed release. :hi:

Incidentally, Cteve, do you know if some krasue movies were made in Korea?

Hmmm, I don't think so... Maybe there are 1 or 2 with flying heads but it is a brief scene in a film (like in WOMEN'S RAGE IN THREE COUNTRIES) but it's not the "typical" style with the organs hanging underneath the head. :(

But, do you know if the "krasue" (under another name) exists in Korean folklore, anyway?

Don't expect Cteve to know everything about Korean folklore. He lives in Korea but is from Quebec. B)

Yeah yeah I know but it... fulfils the head's sexual desires.

I bought this tape from a Cinehound member a while back. It's the Filipino film W (aka W IS WAR) under the German title of "Firestorm, Die Letzte Schlacht". The tape is DUBBED IN ENGLISH and doesn't have any subtitles.

The case is the original case and the tape has the original spine label. The tape has the original German language trailers for other films and the print used carries the German title.

The sound seems to be right, not muffled and the film does definitely not look like someone taped over the original German print with an international print - and besides, like I said, it carries the German on-screen title.

I would put my money on this being the original version. It's an old release and my guess is that, way back in the early 80s this company would have put out this in English. Maybe they also put out a German dubbed version who knows. However, today over on Facebook, Resonator (Chris) claims all German tapes are dubbed in German and that someone would have "overdubbed" my tape.

Now, personally I don't think this sounds right but needless to say I could be in the wrong here so I would like to hear from other members who know more about old German tapes. Is this a real English dubbed release or did someone tamper with the tape. My take is that they would have had to do it fairly recently as fans couldn't have done it back in the pre-computer VHS days. I remember someone here mentioning another German tape that carried the English dub recently.

Lastly, I should point out this scan is not my own scan but is from FB member Tony Li. The scan here has a red rating sticker on it. Mine doesn't. Could this indicate that maybe mine came from a print run made BEFORE the ordinary print run. A review copy or made as a test edition???

My tape is from Mondial Video, MO330.

Do any of you know who this seller is? A Cinehound member?

Flying heads also have feelings.

...and sexual desires too. Remember the head-between-woman's-legs scene in MYSTICS IN BALI?

My Aussie Turkish friend is gonna go for a long holiday to Turkey soon and hopefully he'll find some cool tapes. Maybe you have to find the back-streets and old closed (or almost closed) video rentals.

If it´s that rare what would you estimate it´s worth on? And I know it´s all about what a collector is willing to give....but I just wanna compare your estimation to what I gave for it on ebay.
I am keeping the tape anyway. Watched it this morning and it´s good fun...oh yeah! :)

I paid $85 for BLOOD SORCERY (OS) when I bought it from Bill Barounis and I seem to remember these Ocean Shores horror tapes often go for around 100 dollars. Personally, I would have paid 100-150 dollars for THE RAPE AFTER. As with all collectables it's all about finding the tape's right audience (but you know that). :hello!:

Hahaha! No doubt, Jack. That poster on that other site needs his head examined.

I really don't think he had any clue to who he was talking to. ;)

Eh, no, he didn't.

But besides that, even if I hadn't been Jack the Mighty he still didn't seem to understand basic reasoning. I mean I said that I had a VHS dupe of an uncut Tenebrae sent over so I could watch it. Now, why would I do that if I wanted the movie banned!?

And again, he seems to be the type who, in an argument, only can state that the opposite party is not just wrong but even under different circumstances they would also be wrong no matter what.

I'm against censorship BUT if a country has enforced censorship then BY THEIR RULES you can understand why violent & and gory movies would be censored and/or banned.

Incidentally, two minutes before your post I was posting about favourite superheroes over on Dvdmanicas and I mentioned my fave is the evil Turkish Spider-man from 3 DEV ADAM. Hmm, I can see now I should have mentioned Spider-man as in... myself.

what, you mean they went back to the negative (shipped it from the far east), did a new HD telecine and then redubbed the English track?? Seems unlikely !

 No, no. I did figure it was most likely a bootleg (and as it turns out that's exactly what it is).

However, I didn't know how long MM's copyright over the film runs for and I wondered if another legit company might have released it with a new dub. That does happen from time to time. If you buy AKIRA on DVD it's a different English dub than the one on the old UK VHS. :ph43r:

I was wondering if they'd done a NEW dub, haha (no, not really). Gee, that's fucked up. I just did a search and there's THREE different sellers on eBay who have it.
