Intrusion: Cambodia (1981) (RESCUE TEAM)

Metalian,

INTRUSION CAMBODIA and RESCUE TEAM are two different films.

Same director and same cast. I have both films on Japanese vhs. The cover on your tape is from RESCUE TEAM (but obviously I don't know if the video label might have used it for the other film on this vhs release).

i presume daughter of darkness is the usual butchered print  !!

Well, afaik there is no uncut release anywhere so the question is whether Tai Seng used a print similar to the the Ocean Shores print or to the the Universal print. But still, even cut it's an enjoyable film.

ADG

Daughter of Darkness Four sequences edited from the Ocean Shores disc: 1. After a man falls into a truck full of mud, he and Anthony Wong share sex jokes about the smell of his wife's underwear. (12s). 2. The first rape scene between William Ho and Lily Chung (2-3m). 3. Ho tortures/rapes Lily for a second time whilst singing "Row Your Boat" (3-4.5m). 4. In the uncut version, Lily, after being raped, stabs her brother in the back with a pair of broken scissors eighteen times; the cut print only shows four stabs. (10s). The Universe DVD reinstates two of the aformentioned cuts.

The only thing I'm wondering about is if the French DVD is uncut? Usually French DVDs are uncut but it would seem weird if no one has checked it out since that disk has been available for ages.

Daughters of Darkness and The Seventh Curse are both great! I haven't watched the other ones. Anthony Wong and Lily Chung are in Daughters, and Curse is a wild Chow Yun Fat film.

Well, there's also the Ocean Shores VCD (Chinese audio) and the same version may be out on VHS. Here's the VCD cover (courtesy of Stephen Gladwin):

FUTURE RELEASES FROM MONDO MACABRO

Not only MM is not concerned, but they were always among my all-time favorites, just like CasaNegra for their Mexican horror films releases, and some others. So, I didn't think for a second that anybody could even THINK I was attacking them in any way.

I knew you didn't mean MM and that's why I explained on your behalf. B)

Euuhhh... I don't know exactly what is exactly the subject of your post, but I never write a single word in my life against Mondo Macabro or Peter Tombs, as I have a great respect for his books and DVD releases.

Hey Jean-Claude,

I know you love MM. But on Latarnia you wrote:

If Alain Petit and Stéphane Derderian are behind these announced releases, you can be certain the DVDs will be of superior quality.

[...]

It's refreshing to see really talented and "connoisseur" people in charge of DVD releases... a welcome change from all these soup dealers whose knowledge of cinema is equal to zero..

So in other words you call the other people who put out these films "soup dealers" and, well, since Pete is one of them I guess he took it to heart that he was apparently a "soup dealer". My post was actually me trying to explain in your favour that you were just a tad too broad in your criticism of bad DVD companies.

Go back to the previous page to see Pete's comment.

Nice lobbycard , Jack !

That Magdalena tape on UFA (released with hardbox + sleeve Cover ) is medium rare , it usually goes for 10-20 Euros !The other german tape is released by the very collectible Videophon-Label :

http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fassung&fid=10875&vid=21847

That one is much more rare and expensive ;)

Thanks. B)

Hmm, so it's a question of the one with the lesser cool (in my view anyway) cover to be the more rare one, eh. I think in that case I'd rather just go for the cooler one instead of the rare one (and at the end of the day I just really wanna watch the film in German).

Yeah, cool lobby but, uh, it's off eBay. I don't actually own it.

There's a lot of lobbycards for the film on German eBay.

Thanks, Jönas! Could it be a mere question of an NTSC/PAL question? Do you know if anything is cut out?

How difficult is that German tape to find? I rember seeing another German tape (with a less cool cover) on eBay but this one looks awesome.

EDIT: According to the OFDB the German tapes are uncut. :D

I have the chinese version, didn't know there was a dubbed version around.

The VHS at the beginning of this thread is the English dubbed version that was up for sale. :hello!:

MAD FOXES
Hey Alfred,

Runnnig times are as unsafe as anything. Different tapes and dvds run at different speeds. And sometimes one version has more end-credits than another version so it would appear to be cut when in fact it wasn't. The only proper way is to compare the films/scenes manually.

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO NOW?
Black Sabbath: live Paris 1970 (this has been on my CD player for two weeks now!)

Can anyone explain the reference to "Dallas, Texas"?

And also, what was "26,000 kronos" reference to?

It said the first Blockbuster opned in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and that collecting ex-rentals can be an expensive hobby, the price of a tape can go up to around 26,000 Danish kroner.

The first Blockbusters opned in Denmark in '96.

Don't Danish TV channels/programs have website's where you can watch stuff you've missed out on as well?
Would love to see that item! :)

Thanks, Teade. And yes, I've just found out that the station have put the segment on their webpage. Go here and check Diabolik out (pix of his collection as well in the program):
