Hm, I see what you mean...I never thought that someone would find the forum but not the database http://www.cinehound.com

I'll put it on front page tomorrow then :)

Hey Miltos, I think you might've forgotten about it :P
Why don't you just put a link to the Cinehound front page next to 'Calendar'.

Uh, and just for the record; I'M one of the crazy 8 that actually voted about changes, LOL.

ABOUT OUR CHANGES TODAY
Front page link:

When I initially found the Cinehound forum it was by pure luck from searching some movie title but it wasn't till yesterday that I - again by accident - discovered that you have a useful front page with lots of links and info!

Miltos, I think you need to make a link at the forum-top back to the front page or at least mention that it even exists.

I only found out 'bout that link/info page because I used someone else's computer and didn't have my own link to the forum and thus just tried with www.cinehound.com - apparently this is the only way to get there. Anyway, just my two cents :ph43r: :ph43r:

MAK FROM INDIA
Cheers Miltos. Those links will come in handy. :D

Before I found Cinehound.com I - like most other fans of obscure films - had a hard time finding these films. Although the number of posts is a bit low at times the info on the other hand is great and very useful. B)

MAK FROM INDIA
For some reason I'd overlooked this thread <_< but... hey wauw! This shop looks great. I've been trying to find Indian stuff but all I've got so far is the Mondo Macabro DVD.

Spiffy!

DELETED "GREEKLISH" POST
Actually I saw that post before you chucked it out. Firstly I wondered what it meant, then I wondered where it went

And you're right, Miltos, let's keep it in the Queens English B)

- or as the English use to say in the olden days: 'If the foreigners don't understand you, repeat the same in English, just louder'. LOL.

I can't beleive my eyes! so a gory wind blows from argentina??? damn, i don't speak any spanish at all and i wrote them in english.
Jack could you tell me a store to buy that PLAGA ZOMBIE? i'll search in google for it but any help is welcome!

Yes, absolutely. Where abouts in the world are you, Flashback? If you're in Europe the easiest and cheapest way is probably thru Amazon UK. That's where I got mine. Usually you can get US DVDs from a variety of different shops (that deliver to Amazon). I mostly use Caiman cos they have never let me down, but in reality it doesn't matter. Just get it thru Amazon.

Btw, for some reason Amazon UK is sometimes a little bit cheaper than Amazon US even though you order US DVDs.

Here's a link where you can get it - and it's cheap too, you get it for under £6 + postage:

One film you should check out at all costs is the Argentinian PLAGA ZOMBIE!!! Well, actually it's two movies PZ 1 + 2. They are both underground movies but here you can really talk about fans who have made truly entertaining home-made splatter flicks! Especially the sequel is rad! They're both out on a double disc in the US with English subs. I bought mine last year but as far as I remember it's not very expensive.

ABOUT OUR CHANGES TODAY
Nice to see you care about yr forum. Maybe you should make these three thread into sticky threads so they're always on top.

Actually I think the 'introduce yourself' thread only works if it's on the front page (and no, I'm not saying this because I came up with the idea, ha ha. But it's my experience from other forums. If people don't get it slammed into their face immediately then they often overlook it).

ARTWORK NEEDED - ANYONE HELP?
Oh okaay ;) ;)

ARTWORK NEEDED - ANYONE HELP?
I see you're looking for a cover scan to the Danish film DVÆRGEN (aka Sinful Dwarf). Ha! That film has never even been out on Danish video!

As far as I know it's only been out on video in Holland (and American boot) + DVD in Japan.

Jack

PS: Andras, are you the same 'Andras' (who usually writes his entries while lying in a pool of beer) as over at Asian DVD Guide? Well, if so, hi there, I'm Gynther Meyer :P

WHAT!! NO 'INTRODUCE YOURSELF' TOPIC TITLE??
Ahh, I've made my mark on the world. Now I can go away in peace

Okay, maybe we're more ironic in the north not least when it comes to ourselves. No, he is not funny and I don't think he is trying to be. That's what I thought was funny. He is being so dead-pan serious that it becomes funny. But you don't think it's funny, fair enough.

Ha ha. All he talks about is that he ees a Greek guy

I agree, Miltos. These are two different things. One could say you yourself are a bootlegger since you have an e-shop where you sell copies off official old Greek ex-rentals. But I have no problem with that. The films these small 'bootleggers' offer are out of print and very rare. In the old days (well, back in the 90's) it meant you either couldn't get a film or you'd have to settle with a 4. generation converted-from-ntsc video copy from a tape-trader. I don't think there's anything wrong with this.

When I started talking about this what I meant was people who make copies off an official release that is out there, in print and easily available. Bootleggers who sell copies off these DVDs are stealing from the legit companies, and then it doesn't matter if these are big corporates or one-man companies like Bill's. It's theft and it ultimately means that if someone like Bill has to shut down shop because of this then we'll all be in the unfortunate situation where all that is left is bootleg versions of these weird (and wonderful) rare movies.

So, to put it short: Making copies of rare OOP video tapes is okay as you provide other vise none-available movies to fans. Making copies of legit video tapes/DVDs is really just fucking both the owners and the fans in the ass. The only happy ones are those cynical fans who are too cheap to cough up the dough for a legit DVD.

An interesting note is that Bill himself is a bootlegger because he sells DVD-Rs through his e-shop. But he does it the 'right' way; only copies off OOP video tapes.

And also, if you take a look at Mondo Macabro's DVD release of VIRGINS FROM HELL, on the cover there is actually a quotation from Mark Johnston of 'Revenge is my destiny' - which is a... bootleg company! But again, it's one of the good ones. So if Pete Tombs thinks it's okay to use a quote from a boot company then it must be because he doesn't think it's gonna mean MM is gonna get less profits. There's also addresses of some bootleg companies in his MM book.

Anyway, but that's just the morals and what I think personally of all this. Another thing is legitimacy. It is of course all illegal, ha ha. I know you, Miltos, said that no one cares about DVD piracy in Greece, however it doesn't make it legal. Simply because it's not! And anybody's little e-shop is illegal even if it only sells DVD-R copies of old long forgotten films that haven't been out on video since 1982. Still illegal. The only place (that I am aware of) that bootlegging is legal is in the US where they have the Berne Act that allows people to make and sell copies of films (and versions of films) that doesn't have a distributor in the US. And that's why a company like Destiny is my revenge is actually legal. The funny thing is of course that as soon as someone outside the US orders one of their legal bootlegs it becomes illegal. So if someone in Greece or Scandinavia or anywhere else is searched by the police that legal bootleg is against the law because the Berne Act doesn't make these boots legal outside of the US. Funnily enough, I saw a Canadian boot company (that has a link somewhere in this forum but I forget the name) that had a explanation on their web-page that said they were legit by referring to the Berne Act, which I thought was funny as (needles to say) US law doesn't apply to Canada since it's a different country.

So, to sum it up: good bootlegs B) and bad bootlegs  ! And I have no trouble with the first category.

I know, I know, no politics in this forum (because we're all friends here) but this video on YouTube is just so funny it cracks me up. It's not serious, just funny. A passionate Greek guy. ;)
