KORKUSUZ: TURKISH RAMBO!
Jared
Jul 31 2008, 11:53 PM
This is interesting news for sure. I am wary of any English dubbing or new score you could put on it however. I just don't think even the best efforts you could put into it would come out working in the movie. The Turkish language and the stolen music are such a integral part of the experience of Turkish pulp films. Mondo Macabro got away with the soundtrack rips for their Turkish release, why can't you?

I would love to see this with the original stolen score and subtitles just like you, Jared. But maybe the Rambo people (i.e. the people behind the official Rambo) are in a different league than then people who own the score for the MM soundtrack rips. Or maybe MM even asked permission and got it, who knows (Mondo Pete, you reading this?). Also, MM didn't actually go as far as they wanted to: in 2004 Andy Starke (Pete Tomb's partner in MM) told the Danish fanzine Scatter that they wanted to put out TURKISH STAR WARS! But it never happened. I bet they thought it was too "dangerous" to mess with Steven Spielberg and decided to put out the double bill instead. I'd love to see it untampered with but any translated version is better than nothing. As Fred Adelman once put it: I'm an old guy I don't have the time (to learn Turkish!)

BEST MATTEI FILM
My friend, maybe it ought to be #002 in your release schedule. ;) ;)

Or how about a Mattei box with Robo War, Cruel Jaws and Terminator II   :D

And I so wish someone would put out those two zombie flicks he did right before he died!! They're not even out in Italy or Japan!! :(

It's too early to tell right now, I'm afraid. But as soon as I know more, I'll let you know!

Cheers mate!

Obviously Cinehound is a forum that is very much about world-weird horror and exploitation movies so I'm curious about your new dvd. We know that there are so many Turkish exploitation films from the 70s that are lost or have simply been destroyed. So was it difficult for you to get this print and is it in a decent condition?

KORKUSUZ: TURKISH RAMBO!
How long do you recon it'll be before it's ready for release?

Jack

QUEEN OF BLACK MAGIC?
Beats me. <_<
Weird people.

And I received my The Magic Curse today!! Perfect condition. Like it was made yesterday :D

KORKUSUZ: TURKISH RAMBO!
Well, firstly, this sounds great!!

When you say "dub" do you mean only the music, or will it be dubbed into English? And if yes, will you keep the Turkish dub as well.

TURKISH STAR WARS
Hmm, no not yet. That guy is... something.

On his page it appears he doesn't accept any form of payment!

So 4-5 days ago I wrote to him (in English) and asked if he took PayPal to which he shortly replied in Turkish that... he only speaks Turkish. Then I thought I'd just wait for the invoice. Then yesterday I won the film and received... no invoice. So last night I sent him one of those eBay form letters that says "please send me an invoice with payment details you dill" and I made sure to send one which was in German. But so far I still haven't heard from him. A bit weird to say the least, I mean, he must realise that if he doesn't provide a way of paying him then... I won't be able to pay him!!! <_< <_<

But thanks for your recommendations in regards to the films, Ayman.

Hi Ed, welcome to Cinehound. Kick yer feet up and feel at home.

Yeah, those remakes! :D

It sounds great you bought the rights to one of those Turkish films! Which one is it (of is that a big secret for the time being?) and where will you put it out, where are you at? (I haven't checked your links).

Jack

Welcome to the forum, oomrie :)

And I'm sorry for the little trouble to find your way here but as I told you these spammers are very tough and make things difficult...

Maybe you should start handing out a prize to the few lucky ones that manage to get thru your entry labyrinth.

Introducing Yourself !
Yeah, welcome to Cinehound, Rob. Always room for another vhs collector.

soundtrack problems too?!? bird sounds added wtf

Yes!! I read about another SB film over at Asian Dvd Guide, I forget the title but it had a horse in it and when they restored the film at Celestial they thought it ought to sound like a horse so they had a guy going "Eehhhhh" like a fucking horse!

It sounds funny when you talk about it but unfortunately in many cases these are the dvd's we are left with for years to come.

so, jack or jocky or anyone, please help!

Sorry, I missed your post the first time around. But anyway, I see you've got help from Jocky and elsewhere so that's good - and besides... I wouldn't have been much help anyway. I like the occasional kung-fu movie but my main interest in HK cinema has always been mostly focused on the new wave of HK cinema (well, "new" wave 20 years ago) with all the ghost, dark horror, heroic bloodshed, girls kick ass, etc. movies. I like the old SB and kung-fu movies but I'm in no way an expert or hardcore collector.
