My tapes...
As people used to say in Rhodesia: Absolutely! :hi:

Have you found everything you were looking for?

bleakness and despair
I watched GHOSTS... OF THE CIVIL DEAD at the cinema 20 yrs ago and I still remember its depressedness.

I find films about junkies usually have a depressed tone. Nicolas Winding Refn's first PUSHER film for instance, and TRAINSPOTTING.

Here's a trailer for one I haven't watched but it looks like it fits the bill:

And PORTLAND doesn't have too much happiness in it either:

Greek Horror Films
There was another thread about Greek cult films (not just horror) where a bunch of horror titles were mentioned:

Dr. Dresslers Video-Room
:o :o :o

That's an awesome collection. And so tidy!! :D

Introducing Yourself !
Welcome, buddy. Hope you like it here.

I just got an auto notification from eBout two items I've been looking for - but, uh, what's wrong with these eBay sellers and their MESSED UP info!!

This is listed as a KILLER ELEPHANTS vhs but it has TWO films on it!? And once you read the description it comes clear it's a fucking bootleg dvd from Ground Zero.

"Two martial arts features on one DVD!"

"VHS is in good condition."

And this joker has listed a A SERIOUS SHOCK YES MADAM dvd but the picture is from the movie YES, MADAM! (a completely different film with a different female actress).

Pigtrådsmusik (or rather that's the term they used in the 60s. I would never use it).

So what is it called in English?

Well, it was basically a term to describe the (then) new wild youth music called rock 'n' roll. As in Finnish, the term means "barbed wire music" and I would assume it was lame adults who came up with it because they thought the new music that young kids listened to sounded like pulling barbed wire thru their ears. So back then (early to mid 60s) it was all new rock music (which back then was also called beat music) that was called "pigtrådsmusik". Bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were "pigtrådsmusik". Nowadays, the term is only used to describe the Danish pigtråd bands from that era. Music like in the STENBROENS "HELTE" film, music that I'd call garage rock now.

Danish cinema
So glad you asked. Yes, I'm in it. I play Djævle John's brother Dæmon Bob. And yes, we call 60s rock music the same, just in Danish obviously; Pigtrådsmusik (or rather that's the term they used in the 60s. I would never use it).

There's now a subbed trailer for the Danish cult film (cult in my book anyway, most Danish don't give a shit about this) STENBROENS "HELTE" (aka City Street Heroes). Subbed by yours truly.

HK new wave on Dutch VHS
You're welcome, Peter. Here's also a link to a thread on dvdmaniacs that ran a few years back. The thread topic was an Asian film club but it kinda turned into a talk about what is new wave film and what isn't. There's some useful info (if nothing else: John Woo is NOT part of the wave!)

Start from post #38 (by Andras who's also a member here, altho we never see him here anymore):

HK new wave on Dutch VHS
There's a book on HK new wave movies. I bought it recently but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

THE SPOOKY BUNCH is on YT (I know-I know, shitty youtube, but these films are hard to get as many of them are only on vcd and/or vhs)

Magic Curse
All their tapes are dubbed, apart from some very few exceptions. But as far as I know quite a few of their dvd's carry the English audio and are less cut.

Btw, if I'm not mistaken someone was selling a vhs of MAGIC CURSE a while ago, a tape that carries the original Mandarin audio (with Dutch subs).

Magic Curse
Thank you. Personally, I don't need it as I have the dvd but others here may be interested.

Has anybody made English fan subs, do you know?

Magic Curse
How about the dvd company that released the film? Do they exist? If they do, maybe someone ought to ask them about the film. I assume they would have the original and/or English title of the film.

Dy Saveth; someone ought to get in touch with her and do an interview. Ask her about all those movies.
