From the tagline printed on the back cover:

This was the first action film to be shot in mainland China since the beginning of the Reform and Opening policy. It revolves around the story of a conspiracy to steal an ancient Buddhist treasure, and the strange figures surrounding this mysterious object.

In Mandarin Chinese, Subtitled in Chinese and English.

I found this DVD yesterday in one of the very few DVD shops still existing in Beijing (nowadays they are only located in bookstores, sadly) and I was attracted by the original poster where you can see a masked villain dressed as a mexican wrestler....

The movie itself is not bad, I like this kind of treasure hunts and thrilling adventures....being the first action movie shot after decades in China, it's not too bad

And the DVD is ok, with good english subtitles. This label is reprinting a lot of nice chinese movies with english subtitles....unfortunately the few horror/fantasy movies shot in the early 80's like

Happy husband and beauty woman/Feng kiu zhang fu qiao nu ren/風流丈夫俏女人 (1980)
The book of sins/Shu zhong xian/書中仙 (1982)
The shadow of ghost/Qian ying/潛影 (1981)
Yan zhi/胭脂 (1980)

still don't exist and quite unlikely they will see the light of day soon. I was talking with some assistant in book shops and they told me they are "bad movies"....maybe just because they have some horror contents, which are not very well seen by the government. At least when it comes to local productions. Officially there are a lot of HK movies too available in China but - not very surprisingly - no fantasy/horror is available, of course. Unless you search in the bootleg market.

In any case, I had fun in watching this movie, it was not bad at all
