Thanks Ajji. I couldn't have said it any better myself!
And thanks Miltos, Lefteris and everyone else who wanted to express their view on the subject. Disagreements are fine by me as, like Flashback said, it's nice to feel alive every now and then! I resect wat everyone said on here...it's only a shame that those same people couldn't find the same amount ot time they spent typing replies here to add their name to a good cause! lol
My point is as Ajji said: whether someone likes the film or dislikes it, i would have hoped that everyone on here has such a passion and belief in freedom to view whatever they wish that they would aid ANY cause for ANY release of ANY film if it was being slighted and mistreated. I mean, when people stop fighting for these causes or start being selective about which causes they take up, then the lack of solidarity just weakens attempts at achieving true freedom to view the things we love so much. I couldn't care for some Hollywood blockbuster that a studio has insisted be cut by 45 minutes for release, even if the studio was rumoured to be planning to burn the excised footage. But if a friend or someone i respected made me aware of it and asked for me to add my name to a petition to save that footage, i would do so for one reason: solidarity amongst likeminded individuals who hate seeing that kind of crime perpetrated against film. Film, no matter how bad, good, liked or vilified should be preserved and sometimes the filmmakers need their fans to fight alongside them to add extra volume to their 'voice'. I would certainly feel like crap if that Hollywood blockbuster (however shit it may be) found its excised footage burned because nobody cared about it. Film is film, good or bad, and should be preserved as best as we can. I recall Scorsese stating in an interview one time that something like 40% of all film, whether it be shorts, features, footage, etc. was 'lost' due to being mislayed, badly archived or destroyed over time. That percentage may be wrong, but it WAS a huge percentage he stated and it alarmed me. It made me think about just how bad people can be with not just their own work but with the work of others...

I respect people if they do not wish to add their name to any such petition. But it confuses me WHY they seem so against adding their name for the simple sake of HELPING a cause, almost as if it is something they are AGAINST.

Still...no fights will break out over this, Miltos.

I'd kick all yer asses anyway! lol

:P

I would be very interested in watching a more complete version. Although it is certainly an extreme film the cut scenes that you mention sound a bit too much for the tone of the film but it would definetely be nice if we could see them and judge.

Signed it. But there is only 430 so far, this campaign needs more publicity.

Try to advertise it on Elitisti. A Finnish movie fanatics board.
Another one, Dvdhohto.
And a Swedish movie board called Filmsamling.se.
English movie board caller Pre cert. For Pre cert tape collectors. :)
