I'm just learning that Casa Negra is going to close down!!! It's absolutely terrible! They were one of the few companies on par with MM! http://vampirosandmonstruos.blogspot.com/2...-casanegra.html Jack |

The end of CasaNegra and Panik House? I've heard the rumors too but I hope the company will find its way up. I'll try to speak with Mike about it (Mike from CasaNegra is a member of our forum too...) CasaNegra is the best label for Mexican horrors, one of my all-time favourite companies. News like that break my heart CasaNegra's support to this forum was very special and I want to give my thanx again & again. I wish the best and I pray for better days with more & more Mexican and other goodies !! |

This is indeed terrible news. Their first five releases are absolutely essential. BUT really only for the movies themselves and their presentation. While they had informative text pieces, the extras were not very good for these releases. Why didn't they get David Wilt or Mirek Lipenski to do the audio commentaries? The people they got (including Mike from CasaNegra, sorry - no offense) did a decidedly underwhelming job in my opinion. But then, it's the movies that count and they did an amazing job restoring WITCH'S MIRROR, CURSE OF THE CRYING WOMAN, BRAINIAC, BLACK PIT OF DR M (my personal fave) and THE VAMPIRE/VAMPIRE'S COFFIN and the movies themselves are outstanding. They will be missed. Thankfully Synapse and Discotek have picked up the gauntlet for the Japanese titles sister label Panik House had procured (Panik's Japanese stuff is also entirely essential but everything else they released was of zero interest whatsoever so ...) but it looks like there isn't really anyone to keep up with the Mexican gothic classics. Maybe Deimos or Dark Sky could put out something in the future, but we may have to wait for awhile ... |

I communicated with Mike and he said he's not certain yet about CasaNegra. He thinks they will find a way to keep it alive. So we mustn't loose hope !! |

Great!!! Is this a secret (to be confined to our little Cinehound forum) or would it be okay to talk about outside 'the house'? Jack |

No problem, I don't think the man told me a secret or something, I asked him about the rumors and he told me they may find a solution in the next couple of weeks...Of course he's not sure! |

Any news? I thought Panik House was certain to remain active and that the only reason they've been so quiet was because they're releasing the new wave of pink violence through Synapse? Is it confirmed, are they shutting down as well? |
