Thanks for the info, mate! I was thinking about getting the VCD just to have it but I'll scrap that idea now. Cool you made fan subs. Did you translate the dialogue or use subs from one the the old releases? |

Btw, I'm gonna post this link here even though it really should be in the eBay section, but I figured some of you might not check that section. The old "Essential Guide to Hong Kong Movies" is on eBay right now and for another 4 days. It's a seller in the UK. The book is now very rare. It was released by the old video label Eastern Heroes, and it's a great book to look up titles. I've already got a copy and won't bid on this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Essential-guide-...ME:B:SS:US:3160 |

Cool, thanks for the info. How does the french dvd looks like? I heard good and bad comments on it, I guess it can't be worse than the megastar? (or was it the deltamac version I watched...) |

I transcribed the subs over from the VCD which unfortunately means the last few lines of dialogue from the uncut scenes are not translated. In all honesty, the final scene doesn't add much to the film but I'm someone who can't stand watching censored prints even if it is brief dialogue that's cut from it. @ SpearheadBT - The pic quality of the French print is ok. A tad soft but no major complaints from my side (but that's coming from someone who has more VHS than DVDs!) Here are some screenshots below. BTW - if anyone has the French disc and wants Eng subs, drop me a PM and I'll send you the .srt file. ![]() ![]()

I've been converting my vcd's to mpg's today so I can play them from a hard disc via my bd player (it can not play vcd's). The process seems to be lossless. http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/88803-H...-CUE-images#vcd I wanted to ask,is there a default audio channel (left or right) for the Cantonese track or does this differ from vcd to vcd? Here's a VLC screencap I took while in the process... ![]()

Asking the Hongkongese video companies to follow such standards as to keep the Canto track either left or right would probably be a bit much to ask for. In other words, no, there's no default track. You'll have to find out every time. |

I often burn my VCD's onto a DVD-r, not least the rare ones. Simply in order not to wear them down and cos it saves me having to swap disc halfway thru. |

I'll have to look into that, however storing a converted to mpg file on a external hard drive/usb stick (for viewing on my bd player) works fine for me so far (and saves space). ![]() Thanks for the info Jack. |

I got hold of a VCD in a swap some days ago. I believe its a thai VCD but I dont know, there is no english on the cover so I have no idea of what movie it is. But the front cover had a girl with snakes as hair and that always is good. Now I by chance stumbled upon this poster on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Snake-Head-Woman-F...160704608634%26 That is the exact same picture as on my cover, so I think it must be the same movie. But I cant find any information about the movie when I search for Snake Head Woman. Does anybody here know what movie it is and have any information about it? Is the title even Snake Head Woman.? |
