There WAS an uncut VHS release of the film available at one time. Can't recall the country of origin but it was either France or Belgium. Belgium i believe.
The only reason i know this is because i traded a composite of A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN with someone many years ago and it was the ONLY version at the time among collectors where they could watch it uncut and in English. The English audio had been synch-dubbed over the Belgian version professionally by the source of the copy and then when i got hold of it i removed the Belgian/French language opening title cards (which were against a blank background and alot shorter than the English title sequence) and tagged on the credit/title sequence from the British pre-cert, making a nice version that was as follows:

Letterboxed (other than the English title sequence, which was fullscreen as per the pre-cert source, as i didn't have means to matte it off at the time)
Fully uncut (with eviscerated dog sequence and full lesbian dream scene/murder)
In English language

Up until the DVD came out, the only way you could see the film uncut, letterboxed and in English was via that version that i circulated amongst collectors. I never knew the name of the original source who owned the Belgian video tape and dubbed it in English, so could never give credit where credit was due i'm afraid...

interesting, thanks for the info :)

If Andras was here now he could spend the rest of the afternoon telling us about all those crazy Germans on eBay who spend hundreds of dollars on German kungfu videos that are both dubbed in German and heavily cut. They don't care cos they are collectors. And when I say hundreds of dollars I mean per tape!!!

I'm a vhs collector as well (only Danish tapes though, unless it's something that isn't out on DVD) and if I find something on ex-rental tape that I don't have I'll buy it, even if I have it on DVD (I won't pay thru the roof though).
