Glad to see that your native tongue is almost impossible to hear ;)

I think Jack's Dutch is much better then mine even! :D

-sorry for not getting back earlier, the PC was taken-

He's been on Dutch TV twice before last year, in a program about a TV-judge...
His neighbour had a dispute with him over a tree and thought it wise to settle it on Dutch TV... :(
In the end his tree had to go, but the network paid for it... :P

Through this show, the network thought it'd be fun to do an item on him for "Man Bijt Hond" and asked me as well...

At first I was very reluctant, as I dont like the program too much myself (can't stand the voice-over), but as this guy was unneccesarily dragged on TV for a BS dispute (IMO just to make him look bad), I thought it would be nice they'd put him in a friendly light as well...

Anyway, he does sell, but not for peanuts... :ph43r:
...but that don't matter as he's holding on to the tapes I want; I can never buy them all at once and he could never check them all at once...
...and the fact that I can't buy them all in one time is a very nice excuse to look eachother up to drink a beer and discuss VHS!

He has had several rentalstores and did some distribution as well so he is pretty knowlegable and can tell tons of anecdotes! :)

Been hearing bout him from rentalstore-owners (and fellow-collectors) for years, but as he charched rentalstore-buyers-prices back then it took years for me to actually look him up...

Nowadays rentalstore-owners don't buy VHS no more and at the filmfairs he hardly sells any these days so he's become a bit more reasonable, but surely no fleemarketprices with this fellow...

But that don't matter, he knows a collector is willing to spend a bit more for something special and those are the folks he (rightly) aims for...

He came to the north (housing is cheaper here) for a decent place to stash his tapes and found that old shopbuilding (used to be a clothing-shop, even the changing-rooms are piled up with tapes) and just settled, though he's down south much of his time as well...

It is and old building, and he has had some serious leakage, but I've managed to go through all (yes:ALL) of his tapes (those tapes shelved alone are 3 rows thick) in over one year time and secured many goodie as well as saved many nice tapes from a mouldy death! :)

Whoah, what a shop. Have you been thru all he's got? And cool to see your collection at your house (altho of course we've already seen the photos). You should subtitle this little feature. :hello!:

Dunno how to subtitle... :ph43r:

Due to my native tongue I was amazed it didn't come with subs!

Anyhow, it's not a shop as such, but actually his home, which is an old shopbuilding...

Glad you like the collection (though they showed only the kitchen-departement)! :)

Haha. Ik ben so happy.

Obviously reading your posts on this board doesn't make the rest of us aware you're not a born Dutch speaker. So what's your native language, Teade? Or is it that you speak some other "Dutch" like Afrikaans?

Well I should be Dutchspeaking, and ofcourse I am, but as I usually speak Frysk, which is a native language from before the Dutch language; I have a heavy accent...

It's also still spoken in some parts of northern Germany, and possibly even in the south of Denmark...

Ah, I see. Thanks (and I have no idea if some people speak Frysk in the south of Denmark. Fortunately I don't live there, LOL).

I'm also Frisian, but somewhere along the way I've lost my accent. My girlfriend speaks fluently though!

Those "tieten en billen" was what my friend said they would cut, but I was sure they'd keep it, as it juices stuff up, and indeed... :P

Shame on the NCRV for bringing us the uncut version! :ph43r:

This fellow once had a PC with a database at one of his videorentals in the late eighties, when the PC gave some trouble and his database went lost, he dicided never to touch a PC again, he's very "oldstyle" and pretty basic...

I think KingofB wants to keep this baby his. And there's no shame in it.
He's your personal dealer and if you ever get tired of him, I'm willing to take him in ;)

...ofcourse I would, but as he was gonna be aired anyway and you folks would've found out anyhow I thought I might just as well blow it into the open myself then...

Anyhow, seems I'll be able to, if I really would want to; as he allready offered me not to let even one tape go without my permisssion (and usually he's the kinda guy to keep his word) but as he's not selling a tape without watching it (and he should for some are in bad shape after 20 years of storage and he don't charge fleemarketprices) he'll be pretty occupied with my piles still... :)

Every now and then (about every month) he comes by with some boxes of tapes from my "priority-pile" and I pick a selection whilst we enjoy a cup of coffee. Then he drives us to his place (which is quite far from me) where I make a new "priority-pile" for him to watch while we have a good chat and a good beer...
Afterwards I travel home by bus (filling the bus with the odour of a thousand dusty 'ol tapes and my alcoholic breath :P )...
Few weeks later he'll be done with my "priority-pile" and the whole process repeats...

It's sort of a regular VHS-day and a little party for both of us every time!

Usually I pick up other CINEHOUND's wants as well (I know his place inside/out) to swap 'em for my wants, that keeps us all happy! :)
He sells some more tapes, you guys get some of your wants and after all the hard labour, I get some of my wants as well!
