Received this baby today!!!  :D  :D  :D

A big thank you goes out to Member-X.

Nice tape!

It's funny my tape of this is a full black tape, a friend of mine has a black tape red tab and now I see a fully red tape! I say that one is way cooler than both of ours :D

It sure does look nice (and the tape plays perfectly)! So differently coloured editions exist! Cool. I guess that's how it is with underground releases, they don't necessarily look the same.

I also just got hold of the German vhs release of VIOLENT SHIT 1-3 (on one tape), and VS3 on Reg.1 dvd which contains the film with atrocious dubbing but (more interestingly) also contains the otherwise impossible to get ZOMBIE '90: EXTREME PESTILENCE.

Yeah I guess they do! I have Violent Shit 2 and 3 in the large clams, if I am not mistaken they are the German releases right? Reel Gore was Schnaas company correct?

I had a change to get a Zombie 90' tape but I got VS3 instead hehe.

If you ever come across another Violent Shit 1 clamshell let me know man, I need to finish the collection :D.

Yes, Reel Gore was Schnaas' company. My version of VS2 and VS3 (the latter I only have a dvd-r of) are both subtitled in English. His release of VS1 was in German only (I believe it was never released subtitled) and of course ZOMBIE '90 was dubbed (baaadly) in English. My tape with VS1-3 is alright since I haven't been able to find the other releases but I'd love to find those as well eventually. The VS1-3 tape also came out on dvd but both the vhs and dvd release are fairly scarce by now. Even the reg.1 dvd of VS3/Zombie '90 is getting pricey on Amazon.

Regarding METAMORPHOSIS and the reason for the use of the number 2 on the Japanese video sleeve...this was because originally the film was announced as a sequel to THE DEADLY SPAWN. During production on what was essentially an unofficial and unrelated sequel, they decided to move away from the idea of "DEADLY SPAWN 2: THE ALIEN FACTOR" and stand on their own two feet, opting for the title of "METAMORPHOSIS: THE ALIEN FACTOR". This has been used as the title at times and the film has also been released as simply "METAMORPHOSIS" and also "THE ALIEN FACTOR"...

Chris:

LOVE ME DEADLY is an interesting film. It's a real time capsule of the US in the '70s - the cars, the hair, the clothes, and just the general atmosphere (and of course that GREAT cornball theme song!).

But most of all, I think it represents the era in how unassuming it is with its seedy subject matter (--GASP--necrophilia!). In fact, it's far more psychological and character-driven than you'd imagine. I mean, it's not a Bergman flick by any measure, but it's not the obnoxious "ironic camp" blood-and-thunder approach to the subject you'd see these days in some horrible Eli Roth-type movie. It has a, dare I say it, INNOCENCE and purity about its approach that is very 70s in some ways.

This may spell disastrous for gorehounds hoping for another NEKROMANTIK, but I really liked it since I'm already well-versed in 70s cinema (it is my favorite decade of film, after all).

Considering all these factors, I believe the Something Weird DVD-R of it is the optimal way to view it. It's got that "grindhouse" look: tons of wear lines, damage, dirt, some soundtrack damage. It looks very "worn in" and perfectly evocative of what it must have been like to see something like this on 42nd Street in Times Square. Plus it's an open matte transfer so all the naughty nudity is there, unlike the Shriek Show DVD (although it does have an extra "feature" where you can see the unmatted nude scenes...feh).

Awesome tapes , FIxed ;)

@ videohunter : Could you tell me when those VCI COMMAND PERFORMANCE tapes were released ?
I really start to get interrested in US releases from Prism , Key , Wizard , Unicorn , ...

Speaking of Unicorn , does anyone here own a copy of Mummy`s Revenge (Aured / Naschy) ?
It seems to be amongst the rarest US tapes ...
