It seems if isn't about Dario Argento most folks over at AVM really just don't give a fuck. I've become very frustrated with that forum though it's still a good place for news, reviews and whatnot. And by no means is that a denigration of everyone over there but I get really tired of the 54 concurrent Argento threads that are always going on while no one seems to care about the wonderful and obscure cinema being uncovered by Onar or Mondo Macabro. I'm very bitter and frustrated overall with the entire cult film "community" right now, and that forum is often the clearest distillation of what frustrates me about it. Again, no offense to the Maniacs, just my humble opinion.

I've become very frustrated with that forum

I'm absolutely with ya!! One thing that always puzzles me is those fans who are only interested in films that the fan community already regards as being interesting but they just don't give a shit about something that might be every bit as cool/good/interesting/amazing but it's just not well know within the fan circles!

For instance they have a thread on old polizisco films and everyone says they're so good and violent and all, and then I mention that there's this Greek guy (Lefteris who use to be on this board) who's actually making these movies NOW and nobody shows the slightest interest. Now THAT truly puzzles me!

It's like if it's not old and already well know we don't wanna know about it. In my book that's not the way of the true curious fan who will venture into unknown territory to seek out new thrills. It's like Damon Foster (of "Oriental Cinema" mag) once wrote: If I found out there was such a thing as Eskimo horror movies I would check them out immediately.

That quote really sums up the whole feeling and interest in "worldweird cinema". I vote that this should be the motto/mantra of the Cinehound Forum!

Lefteris makes gritty Italian style police/crime movies? You've made me interested!

There's a link to a trailer for the new one in that thread, and RETURN OF THE BASTARDS is available from Xploited.

I was very dissapointed by Return of the Bastards when I got it a few years back.
The extras on the other hand were utterly fascinating, definetly the best thing on the DVD.

I agree, if this one doesn't move 500 copies within a year or so something is seriously wrong with this world, mark my words..
