My entire family being from Brittany I'm more attracted to Celtic music... Seriously, so many DVDs are released each week that it's difficult to have an eye on everything. However, I can get the informations on these releases - as some of my friends can have them in their collection. May I return to my camembert and red wine now ? |

My questions will be out of date come this Sunday. I did learn that THE SADIST has removable French subs. Why don't they use their wonderful Secam system for dvds? It was part of their cultural heritage and it's sad to see it exchanged for the uncivilized Pal of the rest of Europe. |

The PAL color system is technically much better than Secam and Ntsc. |

The Secam system was perhaps nice for just watching TV - but proved awful when it came to video. I recorded hundreds of movies from French TV during the years 1983-1999, and these Secam tapes are almost unwatchable as soon it's a color movie. Then in 2000 I bought a satellite antenna, and it was then possible to choose between Pal and Secam. I always opted for Pal, of course - and these VHS, from 2001 to 2003, are very good. Then in september 2003 I bought a DVD-recorder and of course I continued to record in Pal. So, I experimented three different ways, and the Secam period was the worse as long than video is concerned. Even the pre-recorded Secam tapes are generally much inferior to their Pal counterparts - I was able to bought the same movie on VHS in its Belgian (Pal) and French (Secam) edition, both released by the same company - and the Pal is much better. |
