I just discovered this release
http://www.amazon.de/Barbaren-Vol-DVDs-Lau...22892432&sr=8-1

Now my German is not thát good so I wondered if one of our German speaking forum members could tell me if this is 1) a legitimate release 2) has indead got an English dub language option on all movies and 3) is of decent quality (not a VHS copy). If so, than I think it would be a first DVD release for some of these movies anywher in the world. I fear however it's bootleg, because there is also a bootleg German "the barbarians" DVD (would also be a first release for this movie if it were legitimate...)

Here's a bit of info from that Amazon page. I should point out I only have my info from that page so I can't guarantee it's correct.
Firstly, it's not mention if this is a legit release or not. My own guess is that this is a legit release along the lines of FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET. Semi-legit.
About the quality: several of the reviews from buyers state that it is indeed vhs quality! ATOR seems to be the one of the lowest quality: vhs quality with inserts from video tapes of even lesser quality! (again sort of like FOUR FLIES). The remaining three film are of better quality somewhere in between good vhs and dvd quality. The format is stated to be 4:3 and there's English dubbing. The four films are on two discs by the way.

If you want to know the true lowdown on this you might wanna give Spannick a call (or PM), he knows all about these German releases (hell, he's even behind some of them). ;)

Hi ,

I just looked up some more reviews to this DVD Box , and I read that
there`s NO english dub of the movies as it is said on the cover  ,
so I had to rewrite my first comment !

It seems to be an official release ( MIG / Eurovideo Bildprogramm GmbH ).
The Ator movies should be slightly cut ,Ironmaster + Thor are uncut ,
just like the old german VHS copies ! I read Ironmaster has good picture quality ,
and there two trailers ( Iron Master + Ator 2 ).You can expect a sellthrough DVD-Box that`s sold at the large Media-Stores for a low price !

Yes, MIG Filmgroup is indeed a legit company.....

They have been pumping out among other things a lot of Italian sex comedies which are a lot of fun if you are into that kind of thing (I am).... Many with Italian dub and German subtitles which make them kind of edible.

Too bad about the English dub. I think it was intented as far as I remember that two of the movies in the set were to be English-dubbed, but now none... Damn.

Can be had at jpc.de for 10 euro which is a give-away price ....

If you want to read more about their releases (and your Deutsch is good) check out this forum:

Off-topic, but why 4 Flies is "semi-legit"?

Well, think about it; why do you think they've had to put out a dvd which is full a bad inserts from an old video tape instead of getting a perfect master? Because they haven't bought the copyrights from the American copyright owners. However, somehow they've managed to put it out in Germany without being pulled over by the cops, hence "semi-legit". But I guess I'm really being nice. It's a bootleg.

I knew it's a bootleg, just wondering why call it "semi-legit." For a moment I thought that it would be "semi-legit" in a way Raro Video's El Topo & Holy Mountain are, both unofficially approved by director but not by producer/copyright owner (Klein) :D
