Hey, I thought we might as well set up a companion thread to Pete's Unique dvd's from Germany with Eng. dub thread.

So let's make this a thread about dvd releases from other countries that may be unlikely places to look for cool releases. I know very well this will be a never ending task so lets try and limit the post to contain info on dvd's that are English dubbed/subbed and not released on dvd in the US or UK (unless maybe if they're uncut or something else really spectacular).

There is a French dvd of Street trash that has a DTS soundtrack not on any other release......

Alot of those Thai DVDs are just straight rips from the japanese DVDs.....Savage Man, Savage Beast is also available on that label, only it is a rip of the Japanese Columbia VHS, Rather than the japanese DVD from pioneer! weird...

They may just be rips off the Jap. dvd's but the good thing about the Thai dvd's is the price: Thai dvd's: cheap. Jap. dvd's: expensive. :D

Cool, Kenneth!

I checked the Jap. version of SUMMERTIME KILLER you link to and it's about double the price of the Thai dvd. :o

Which film is your link for ASSASSINATION for?? I don't assume it's the Danish crime movie of that title?

Hey Jack,

Actually, it's Emilio Miraglia's "Assassination" (1967) starring none other than the one and only "Henry Silva."

The R2 RHV version also has English options and is a bit better. It can be sourced HERE.

The RHV disc has some extra footage. Here are the scenes in the RHV disc that are not present in the King Records disc.

The opening credits have a 28 second difference with the RHV edition having a longer (and more complete) opening compared to the King Records release.

5:25-5:27: Film shows clock showing 5:36:48, 5:36:49, 5:36:50 respectively.

5:30-5:49: Film shows cops leaving the office, unlocking and entering Henry Silva's cell, then Henry Silva leans up from his cell bed. *note: The two parts of the film where Henry Silva leans up from his bed when his wife walks in the cell earlier are used from this same footage seen here as one piece. (In the 3:56-3:58 & 4:08-4:11 sequences.)

7:00-7:03: Close shot of Silva's face as he walks along the jail hall.

7:03-7:09: Guard opens the gate to the room with the electric chair.

7:09-7:15: Henry Silva gets a little weak in his knees as he approaches his execution.

That's it for the different cuts in the film.

With these cuts and the running times of the two comparatively, there is about a 10 second slowing time for the PAL vs the NTSC. I rarely had to press the pause button to keep them in sync throughout the review. A bit strange, it doesn't fit the PAL/NTSC formulaic bill, but a heads up nonetheless.

Overall, the quality of everything else was about the same on these two discs, so if you missed this on the first runaround don't feel bad about having to pick this one up.

Just thought of another one. After waiting for years for UK based Redemption to release Dutch filmmaker Edwin Brienen's legendary cult trash debut movie Terrorama!, Dutch distributer Filmfreak finally made it happen themselfs earlier this year. They even released five of his movies, but the other four I just do not like so much as my favorite Dutch movie of all time :) English, German and French subs are available!

just look at the promotional pics and screencap in the link! That's filmmaker Theo van Gogh in the 4th picture there, reading from the Koran. Although it's unlikely the muslim terrorist that killed him later ever saw this movie, it's a good illustration of the provocative way in which van Gogh engaged in the debate around muslim radicalism.
