this is another thing that doesn't sway me either, case in point , Bill Lustig thought it was necessary to shorten the strangulation scene and remove the dinner date scene entirely from his film MANIAC , when elite entertainment picked up distribution in 1995....which was known as the "directors cut" or "directors prefered" version, which IMO removing those scenes didn't work, I felt the dinner scene was very important to the subject matter,as it was a way to show how serial killers can appear so normal and un-alarming so the victim lets his or her guard down, and before the victim relizes what's goin on it's too late ! which then Bill Lustig reinstated that scene and cut footage for the re-release when anchorbay distributed the title.. a directors vision can change and will change when ever it suits the situation, so i lend no credence to it ! |

Haha, I joked about a dvd-vhs debate and now we're almost getting into one. It's often difficult to figure out which version was the "originally intended" version. For instance, Steven Spielberg went back and changed (censored) E.T. - so does this mean this is really his director's cut version and therefore the best version? I think everyone would say hell no! Is FLESH AND BLOODY TERROR a better version than THE BEASTS because Thomas Weisser put XXX inserts into it? :ph43r: |

I thought the shorter version of BLADE RUNNER that stops before the sappy ending was better. But otherwise I agree. Jack |

Just to clear this up about 'Blood on Satan's Claw'....I own this title on film and transferred it to VHS and DVD and it is fully uncut and in the proper screen ratio with all of the nudity and picture info clearly viewable unlike the UK DVD which crops it off. It's also way brighter than the UK DVD. So if the actual film contains this picture information then that is the way it was shown in the theaters. |
