ONAR FILMS DECEMBER - HOLIDAYS SALES!

I copy & paste Bill's words:
---------------------------------
"From December 1st to December 31st, ALL DVD's will be offered at LOWER, MUCH LOWER, and EXTREMELY LOWER, prices!
No better chance to offer your beloved ones (or your enemies, for that matter) an Onar gift!
Also:
KILINK ISTANBUL'DA
is Out of Stock, FOR EVER.
I'll never re-issue it, by the way."

So if you want to buy the Onar hot titles run now!

Anybody who's still considering whether they should buy CELLAT or not might wanna decide to get hold of it now; on his blog Bill says there's only 150 copies left!

Bill says on his blog that he won't be reprinting any of his dvds. :o

I don't think this is quite the way to do things. I fully understand why KILLINK is gone forever but if a dvd release becomes a success there's really no need not to reprint it, in my view anyway.

Hm...If you say "Limited Edition - 500 copies only" I suppose it means "and then over!"

I know many labels reprint limited editions but I don't agree, limited cannot mean...a second release later!

But in Bill's case "limited edition" is only an advertising tag! The only reason he only prints 500 is because he found out most of the early ones that were printed in 1000 copies didn't sell. However, if a certain title becomes popular and sells well it seems silly not to reprint it (hint, he didn't have to write Ltd. on the reprint).

The point is to spread out these Turkish films to as many people as possible, not to make rare limited releases. There is no point in keeping these cool films hidden from the big, wide masses just in order to keep it underground. If he sells each and every copy of CELLAT I don't see why not reprint it so even more people can see it. Otherwise it'll just get bootlegged anyway and he won't earn ANY money on that.

I can understand why people reissue DVDs that they have earlier issued as Limited Editions. Once INVITATION TO HELL & THE LAST NIGHT sells its 1,000 Ltd Edition copies we may one day consider re-releasing it. That is not to say though that we would wish to crap on the rare nature of the earlier Ltd Edition release by doing such a thing...but we have the rights for a period of years to come and may wish to do something else with it. If we did though, we already know that it WOULD be different to the Ltd Edition release. Maybe it would be bare-bones. Maybe the films would be remastered from orginal camera elements. Maybe they would be released in fullscreen versions to represent the open-matte nature of their original video incarnation...there ARE possibilites and it IS something we would consider if we felt it was worthy of doing. But not for a few years. Then again, we may just feel it best to leave it at 1,000 and never re-release it...

With Bill, i can fully understand his reasons for not re-issuing...because it would be CRAZY to do so! Bill himself will tell you that they do not sell well even in such ultra-limited editions the likes of which he lovingly and painstakingly works on finding, putting together and releasing. Not only that, but there is the added issue of some of the rights-owners causing him problems more recently about just what exactly his rights licenses cover as far as territories, wanting more money, etc, etc. He has certainly had his work cut out for him in EVERY department since starting up ONAR FILMS: tracking down these highly elusive films, finding elements to work with, obtaining rights, subtitling woes, marketing and distribution labouring, etc, etc, etc.
Certainly, Bill is someone i look up to when it comes to sheer grit, guts, passion and determination for how i look upon SARCOPHILOUS FILMS...

Wayne, all that is true and I understand what you're saying but we were talking about all this in regards to CELLAT which seems to be selling out in record time, i.e. it's a bestseller. And in THAT regards I don't understand why he wouldn't want to print more. Personally I don't care one iota for limited editions. What I care about is availability. Why some companies would not want to re-release a bestseller just in order to have an item that is "rare" is something I don't understand?! Doesn't make sense to me. But again I fully understand why someone wouldn't want to re-release stuff that doesn't sell well.

Miltos, have you checked the prices? I don't remember how much all the dvds are usually but I paid $30 (ca. 23 euro) for Cellat about a month ago and that's still the price.
