Yeah yeah I know. It's heresy to "upgrade" from a VHS, but I have good reason to for some of these titles: either the VHS I have is in horrible dupy quality or it's untranslated. So anyway, just wondering if anyone knows if these DVDs are UNCUT? ![]() PAPAYA: LOVE GODDESS OF THE CANNIBALS (Severin) ![]() BABY BLOOD (Anchor Bay) ![]() SHOCK WAVES (Blue Underground) - I have a faint memory that it may be cut, but it could just be my imagination... ![]() ENTRAILS OF A VIRGIN (Synapse) - Am I right that this and the ENTRAILS OF A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN dvds are actually UNFOGGED? ![]() ENTRAILS OF A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN (Synapse) - |

just checked up on this (as I am interested in the japan-shock releases myself) but reviews clearly state there is fogging involved http://www.thecinemalaser.com/dvd_2004/eoavbw-dvd.htm |

Don May did mention originally when acquiring the Jap titles that they only existed in fogged masters as they said the Japanese authorities demanded the original elements be fogged or something like that. Some time later on, quite a while after the DVDs had been done and made available, he discovered that unfogged masters COULD be made available to him apparently (the Japanese contacts came across the negs or something) and that they would be considering working on making the unfogged version available on DVD. I guess it just never happened. Maybe sales were slack and Don May felt it would be unwise to consider trying to re-release it, who knows... |

Thanks for the help so far guys. Now, I could have SWORN Don posted unfogged pics of the explicit scenes in the ENTRAILS films years ago on the mobius home video forum board that he USED in the DVD releases, but it's been so long. I'm contemplating buying the Video Watchdog issue that has the reviews of those DVDs to get to the bottom of this (for everyone's sake!)... |

Another question:![]() CURSE OF THE DEVIL (Anchor Bay) - I've heard some rumblings that this DVD may be slightly longer than the old Dutch VHS (on the Empire label, I believe). Can anyone confirm this? As long as this DVD is as long as the Dutch VHS, I'm happy, and if it's longer, well, even better! |

it says 84 minutes on the box of the DVD and 90 on the box of the VHS (but that 90 is a round number put on boxes of movies ranging anywhere between 80 en 100 minutes at least :)) I wish I had the time to do a side by side comparison for you, but I don't really. I think both releases should be "the uncut version". Also check out reviews for the more recent BCI release. If I remember correctly there were small problems with that release but it was still in some ways superior over the Anchor Bay release... |
