Sasqua - Channon Scot (1975) - probaly unreleased/lost

The utter obscurity of "Sasqua" fascinates me. I am trying to get as many info as I can about this supposedly lost Bigfoot flick. I hopefully managed to get in contact with one of the members of "Sasqua" film crew. Wish me luck!

That sounds great! Good luck! and don´t forget to share the findings here, i´m very interested in this one. Do you have any info at all? (we could make it a separate SASQUA thread maybe).
So you´re a Bigfoot fan as well? Do you know anything about a release of REVENGE OF BIGFOOT? Seems to be very ellusive as well...

I am not a big fan of Bigfoot flicks. But as a hobby I particularly like to search for truly obscure and forgotten movies with no reviews at all. "Sasqua" particularly interests me. This is perhaps the only info about "Sasqua" available on the net:

This is the first time I am reviewing the film, which I haven't seen. "Sasqua" absolutely did get distributed, but its distribution must have been extra-limited. There are some older horror fans that clearly remember the events in Channon Scot's Bigfoot flick. They saw it during their childhood. According to reliable source the plot of "Sasqua" goes like that: a bunch of hippies move into an abandoned farm out in the woods in some rural county. The local sheriff is always hassling them and of course when the bloody Bigfoot murders start the hippies are blamed. At the very end the hippies had all gone away, leaving the farm to the Bigfoots. A sheriff walked into the empty barn and when he got inside, you could see the outline of the monster step into the doorway behind him. "Sasqua" mixes suspense with blood and gore. The Bigfoot creatures are carnivorous and hungry for human flesh. The film was never released on DVD or VHS. It must be hidden somewhere. It must be available to see for Sasquatch lovers everywhere.

It joins the list of unattainables along with "Point of No Return", "London After Midnight", "King Monster", "Blood Circus", "Zoom Up Rape Site", "Creature of Comfort", Andy Milligan's "The Naked Witch" and several Spanish horror films that faded into total obscurity.

I'll try to get more info about "Revenge of Bigfoot". At least it has three or four comments on IMDb.

This is also very elusive title: "Valley of Blood" (1973)

So I decided to get some knowledge about "Revenge of Bigfoot". I emailed its director Harry Thomason to question him about the availability of the film. Here is the mail, which he sent me some hours ago:

Bart,

I'm sorry, I did not direct the film - They did seek me out for some production advice but I don't know why I was ever credited with anything to do with the film. A guy named Dewayne (can't think of his last name) from Texarkana, AR directed. The CofC their could probably get you in touch with the right people.

Thanks,

Harry Thomason

So the credits on IMDb are wrong.

I'll try to get more info about this enigmatic production.

Interesting information Bart. Love your dedication!

I read something about SASQUA somewhere, a guy trying to come up with info about it by asking around in the area it was made, he came up with nothing. Ellusive to say the least.... Have you seen a poster or anything at all from it?

That guy who asked was me.

Apart from small info about "Sasqua" in an archive newspaper I couldn't find anything about this film. No poster, no reviews, no cast, nothing. But this film DOES exist and one comment on IMDb proves it:

I found this web site recently. I was involved in the production of this film. I have background information and copies (duplicates of duplicates) of the film. I was the "still photographer" for the movie, a featured player (actor with lines), and a production assistant. I am familiar with the location shooting and local people involved in the filming of the movie. I would love to obtain an original copy, DVD or crisp copy for my archive. A local re-showing would be welcome by the community. People still remember the movie and several of the local talent are still around. Massachusetts is still a great place to make movies.

I mailed this guy three times so far. I wanted him to give some background info about "Sasqua". No reply to this day. :(

Haha, that´s brilliant. You are on a one man mission!

Is it possible to contact the guy that wrote on Imdb? Seems like he could provide loads of interesting info (and maybe even a copy, even if bad, of the movie)!!
Would be the perfect stuff for a fanzine.

Like I said I mailed this guy three or four times. I didn't get any reply. But I hope to get in touch with Lou Peralta, the editor of "Sasqua" pretty soon.
