"Nightmare USA" is an excellent book. I applaud Thrower for writing it and can't wait for VOL. 2.

However I must say the list of independent American horror/exploitation movies (Horror, 1970-1985) is not entirely comprehensive for example I'd also add:

Wendigo (1978. Paul Kener)
Sasqua (1975. Channon Scot)
Valley of Blood (1973)
King Monster (1976. Richard Martin)
Miss Leslie's Dolls (1972. Joseph Prieto) - thankfully this film was found by one collector in UK and will be shown in selected cinema in London in Spetember 2009
The Spirits of Jupiter (1985. Russel Kern)
Curse of the Moon Child (1972)
God Bless Dr. Shagetz (1974. Edward Collins, Larry Spiegel, Peter S. Traynor)

Plus three elusive movies from 60's:

Weekend of Fear (1966. Joe Danford)
Las Vegas Strangler (1968. William Collins)
The Nest of the Cuckoo Birds (1965. Bert Williams)

I am sure that there are more completely forgotten (possibly lost) US horror films from 60's, 70's and 80's.

I think i've found two more movies not listed in the book:
A Knife for the ladies a.k.a Silent Sentence - Larry G. Spangler, 1974 (strange mystery/western/slasher hybrid)
The Enchanted - Carter Lord, 1984 (interesting loooow budget ecological/pagan fantasy with horror feel)

Believe this or not, Lars, but William Girdler's ASYLUM OF SATAN was theatrically released in France, when wonderful movies like (for instance) Terence Fisher's THE GORGON or Fernando Mendez's EL ATAUD DEL VAMPIRO (The Vampire's Coffin) weren't.
This tells a LOT about the intelligence of film distributors.
Just think: Universal-France released all the titles of the Frankenstein series (1931 to 1948), excepted "House of Frankenstein". Why? nobody knows. (The often-mentioned "La maison de Frankenstein" is the Belgian title).
"El Vampiro" (Fernando Mendez) was released and it was a success, but its follow-up, mentioned above, wasn't. In fact, the French distributor probably even didn't know there was a follow-up. Bastard!

This being said I have seen almost all of the titles mentioned in this thread, most of them on video, some others in theaters.

I've seen 431 from the list. You can check how many you've seen here. I've watched almost entirely films from the book this year. Insane, but fun (mostly). I'm planning to write a list of my favourite, and least favourite films from it when I've watched every one I can track down (still got about 30 left, there's about 20 I can't find anywhere).

One other title not mentioned is The Toxic Slime Creature (1982), though that one's not even on IMDb. Has anyone managed to track down Voodoo Heartbeat?
