Is this something to be excited about?
The few Youtube clips I found look very nice and apparently this never had ANY English friendly release. It sounds very promising to me!!
The only possible negative thing is that I read the DVD has a pan&scan transfer of the movie...

does anyone has a VHS cover or other interesting artwork for this one? please post it here

"L'amante del demonio" sounds really promising ! I expect a nice sleazy/trashy gothic-horror like Batzella`s glorious "Devils Wedding Night" . It has Rosalba Neri + Edmund Purdom (wearing a red cape) , so how could this be bad :)

To be honest , I would prefer any original VHS to the Mya DVD ... from my knowledge they used a VHS print with english (fan-)subs ... I would rather trade a print like this on DVD-R than paying good money for the same quality ... at least , they could have used some original artwork for the cover !

There are 3 VHS releases of this movie , non of them has english dub / subs :

Japanese VHS ( italian with subs) / Spanish VHS ( spanish dubbed ) / Italian VHS ( italian , of course )

Italian VHS on AVO Films ( I think there is also a release from General Video ? ):

ooh very nice! thanks for the info and a look at that lovely locandina.

They are using a VHS as source? really? That sounds almost like a bootleg company, while I believe the Mya people were also behind the excellent No Shame releases!?!?!? still looking forward to seeing this with subs though.
With googling I did found two different bootlegs floating around the 'Net, but both were in Italian only...

I am not really sure about the source Mya used , I only read about this some time ago . I think Mya had not the best start as a new label ... I am no expert on DVDs , but I think they got to care more about quality with their next releases and get rid of that bootleggish character ... only my 2 cents ;)

But let`s wait until the DVD gets released , I am sure reviews + screenshots will appear very soon !

I had a MYA double feature this weekend with "HORRIBLE" and LEGEND OF BLOOD CASTLE. While I thought the former actually looked pretty good save for the extra scenes subbed in from a very inferior source, the movie itself is not-so-hot (D'Amato is not at the top of his game when doing straight horror it would seem). LEGEND on the other hand was very problematic. Non-anamorphic is one thing, but it seemed like maybe there was a PAL to NTSC coversion wonkiness going on. And several times there was a stuttering and even a freezing of frames! It looked for all the world like a bootleg. Not a bad bootleg, but a pretty terrible DVD. Sad as the movie itself was outstanding. It had some nice extras, deleted and alternate scenes and credit sequences while "HORRIBLE" had no extras at all. I'm glad I rented them instead of buying which is what I'm gonna do with all future MYA releases including LUCIFERA which looks very interesting.

I for one haven't bought a single MYA release (although I will probably chicken out and buy their fucked-up audio release of FOUR FLIES in the future). Don't care much for that company - almost all their releases are flawed and the covers are horrible (especially HORRIBLE, hehe!) ! Their general idea seems to be to release every italian b-movie ever made (that nobody else wants), but I miss that loving touch of other "do the best with what we've got and just get 'em out there"-companies like Something Weird or swedish Klubb Super-8. MYA seems more business-like, focusing, I suspect, on films where the rightholders appear to have gone up in smoke. I don't know this for sure but much points in that "grey-area" direction. I hate to be so hard on a small company realeasing interesting and obscure films but what's sad for the eurotrash fan is that from their fantastic list of coming attractions, with their track record they are bound to fuck up most of them. On the other hand, there's a good chance noone else would bother to release them at all.

that's why I think I will still go for them... I mean, even IF somebody was thinking of releasing one of their titles, they won't once an edition is already on the market.
Still I rather see less releases with a bit more dedication indeed

Some of their covers are pretty good. LEGEND OF BLOOD CASTLE for instance. It features original ad art, always a plus for me.
I have FOUR FLIES and DOOR INTO DARKNESS put haven't watched either yet. I will probably buy something from them sometime. If they release the Polselli films for example, or that KARA MURAT movie. I would grab those no questions asked, regardless of a/v quality or other potential issues.
In general I'm glad these obscure titles are getting out there, but like I say, they are rental fodder for the most part.
