Finally, after several delaying issues, the DVD is almost ready for public consumption!

Some personal issues set us back in the first quarter of this year to where our release slate for the year was put on hold, but once everything was good-to-go again, we moved forward right away with work on our 2nd release, "SKARE". It meant bumping our schedule for each and every film back accordingly, but we will get there now that all is clear!

Then, after listing a tentative "end of July" date for availability, some setbacks occured with the artwork, the main issue of which was it being, well...essentially BANNED! lol
The artwork was refused due to being too "graphic" and yet no other reasons were stated and nothing more than that vague statement presented to us.
We were also looking at the entire project being refused due to the same people feeling that if the content of the film was as graphic as the sleeve art that it would be unacceptable to them to work on...
So...what is a small label to do? Well, there is the choice of bailing out and trying to find a new company to work with, which would have caused further delays. There was the choice of changing the artwork to appease the suits, although no guarantees would have been in place that such a thing would have been enough as there was still the "content of the film" they would no doubt have had issue with. And the final option was to stand our ground and argue the toss with them...so...we argued the toss and refused to budge, fought our corner and, along with our rep at the duplication plant, managed to win the battle!
The issues arose due to the boss of the plant, apparently, feeling that the female staff employed there would be offended by working on the sleeve with such artwork. We argued that it was a little sexist, outdated as well as demeaning to speak FOR them and making the decision on their behalf. I mean, didn't women fight for their rights too over the decades? Surely they don't need to be treated like delicate little wallflowers and have their minds made up FOR them? Surely, in this day and age, THAT is more "offensive" to women than some bad taste artwork that is overly graphic? And another thing...surely employees are requested to do their jobs anyway, despite personal opinions on things? Since when did the inmates run the asylum?! Not that females are "inmates"...lol....but, you get my point, right? And these staff were not even approached to have their opinions garnered and their voices heard anyway....
Our rep also supported us and managed to come through for us and the end result was that we were given the go-ahead and didn't have to change single damned thing. So, it just goes to prove that even the small battles are worth waging if it comes to keeping integrity of your product, company and self!

Here is what is coming:

WORLD PREMIERE RELEASE OF THE 'PRIME CUT' OF "SKARE"...
AUDIO COMMENTARY BY THE DIRECTOR AND FEMALE LEAD...
ENTERTAINING & INFORMATIVE FEATURETTE BY THE DIRECTOR...
ONLY REMAINING/EXISTING FOOTAGE FROM THE LOST 2001 VERSION OF THE FILM...
SLIDESHOW FEATURING PHOTOS FROM THE LOST VERSION AND THIS REMAKE...
ORIGINAL TRAILER...
ORIGINAL SHORT STORY: "ONE MAN'S POISON" (29 page short story that the director wrote that later formed the backbone for the film versions)
ORIGINAL SCRIPT: "SKARE" (2001)...original script for the now long lost version...
ORIGINAL SCRIPT: "SKARE" (2009)...original 2007 script for the remake...
ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN 16:9
ENGLISH DOLBY 2.0

Plus, original sleeve artwork and menu-screen artwork created by Corlen Kruger which we hope will create quite the "appetite" for this release!

I will see about getting the sleeve art exclusively revealed on here over the weekend!

Awesome, Wayne!

Listen, buddy, mate, old compadre, I must confess I haven't bought your first release yet but I want it now and I was looking around for it a couple of days ago but the store on your site is (I believe) in Canada? How come, aren't you in England? Is there an easier way to buy it (and the new one) for someone in Europe? (if there isn't no problem, I'll just get it from Canada then).

Also, apologies to my co-members here, but I think you would get a lot more response over on Dvdmaniacs than here. People here (myself included) are into old dusty video tapes with half rotted away sleeves. I have a feeling a few members aren't so interested in new dvd releases which is fine I respect that but if you'd like to get the word on your releases out to more people then, unfortunately, this may not be the place where you get most potential customers. :ph43r:

Hey dude....cheers for the "awesome"! Much appreciated! lol

As far as more exposure, we will be doing the usual rounds of sites to promote the release but CINEHOUND is like a home of sorts to me where websites are concerned and i always like to give the first look and first news, etc. on here out of respect and love for the site, Miltos and my fellow cinepups...that's all... ;)

As for ordering a DVD of our first release, sure...you can order from me. I have 2 left of the small batch Clive sent me, so no problemo. I have a signed and unsigned edition...
Was going to keep the unsigned one for myself...kinda feel like keeping one copy of everything we release for reasons of pride, y'know how it is...lol
But let me know via PM what you are after and we can sort out a price depending on which you are after, ok?

Thanks, Wayne. And I would certainly keep a copy for myself if I were you.

Yeah, Cinehound is home away from home in Cyberspace. :D

ATLANTIS should be coming back to us in the coming couple of weeks after a fresh transfer has been struck from the original camera elements. And we have also announced BLOODSTREAM as a future release (coming after ATLANTIS and THE RITE OF SPRING) as well as added text, synopsis, background info, technical details and some great gory images on the site for that rarity that i think you would all love!
I have cut together a teaser trailer (more of a highlight reel really!) for BLOODSTREAM that should be going up on our site soon also that i think will have you all salivating for this near-zero-budget nutjob-carnage-fest of a film! Mike will be cutting an official trailer together for the film himself nearer the time we start work on that particular release. But in the meantime, my little teaser trailer will be going up in the coming days so people can get a good feel of what this film is like!
Keep those peepers peeled for it!

If you look on our Facebook and Myspace pages you will find a roughcut teaser (minus audio, i'm afraid) for BLOODSTREAM. This teaser can also be found on Youtube by typing in Sarcophilous Films and then checking our uploads (or by typing in the search for BLOODSTREAM - FORTHCOMING TO DVD!).

Check it out guys! I guarantee that you will all be pre-ordering this sucker!!!

A proper trailer, cut together by Mike, will be coming in the near future as the time draws nearer for us to start working on that release. But in the meantime, enjoy this little highlight-reel style teaser taster for this insane, never-released gem!
