Well, obviously, I should just shut my fucking trap whenever I feel the need to make a negative observation. Forced subtitles are a pet peeve of mine. So sue me. My eye can't help but to wander to text when it's on screen. It's rather distracting. I'm sure this DVD will be a fine little artifact. I'm also sure FDS do great work in general, though I've never seen any reviews of their stuff anywhere. I meant no disprespect to anyone who goes out of their way to get this stuff to the public. I understand the contractural reasons why the subs are there, I just wish it wasn't so since there is no other DVD of this movie out there (that I'm aware of). I hope this sells thousands of copies. But more than likely I won't be one of those buying. Sorry to let down the "team" but that's how I feel.

Oh c'mon, Jared. Lighten up mah man!

No one here is insinuating that you are letting the team down.

Mostly everyone here collects vhs from around the world and to get an uncut, or best print, you almost always have to have subtitles of some foreign language popping up on the screen below it. So most of us are used to dealing with the burned subs in place of uncut or best pq available.

It is nothing against you, my friend.

If you did want to tinker with some software, and bought the dvd, I am sure you could rip it and burn it as an anomorphic 16:9 and cut out the subs provided they were in the black bars to begin with. Just an idea.

btw, Jack, if they are burned and not forced, there is no way to remove them, save just covering them up. The guy who started the Videohelp website and forums has been trying to figure some way to eliminate burned subs, holograms and artifacts for years but is still empty handed.

Yeah, you're right Kenneth. But it seems I've been getting a lot of flak or just ignored by this board lately and I get a little fed up sometimes. I'm also sick with a flu/cold and in a generally poor mood all this week.
Subs on a old Greek VHS for something that's not released anywhere else is one thing though. A nice looking DVD with distracting subs is another. Especially since most of the time one DVD release in one part of the world usually heralds another release somewhere else. So I'm just going to wait.
Thanks for talking me down! :D

You are an asset to the community, Jared. And I hope you don't have the swine flu.
