THUNDERCRACK! Coming from Synapse Films in 2010!

Synapse will be releasing the film in it’s restored, longer form, using the one and only original 16mm film print of the longer version that still exists on the planet. And, we’re loading it with extras, of course!”

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this! At the time when the AWE disk came out I read about an old bootleg of a director's cut version that was supposed to run half an hour longer than the DVD. So I got in contact with AWE and asked them about it cos they only put out the "short" version (which still runs two hours) in Denmark.

AWE's mainman told me there was no longer print!! This didn't sit well with me as I'd read about the longer bootleg. So I Googled around and found a page of the copyright owners that said they were going to release it. So I wrote to them and the emails I got back were from Melinda McDowell herself! (the director's sister who is also in the movie).

She said "So have you bought a Scandinavian bootleg", haha. She recons that both the AWE disk and the Ducht dvd are bootlegs cos she has never permitted an official release. I asked AWE about it again and they claim they bought the rights for it from the film company. I don't care who is right and who isn't here, the important thing is we will be getting a proper, fully uncut and not least RESTORED print now instead of the "old" DVDs that are taken from beat up prints. I've know about the upcoming DVD for quite a while from McDowell and I know she's really happy with it being released from Synapse. Over on Dvdmaniacs Synapse mainman Don May said he went to her house and looked thru all her brother's old stuff. Stuff that she hadn't looked at since he died so hopefully Don May will have found some cool stuff to include on the disk.

By the way, if any of you wanna read Melinda McDowell's description of the release go to her page here (there's also a trailer):
