(Partly) inspired by this thread at the pre-cert.co.uk’s ‘Australian Collector’s Corner’ I started a little blog project about 3 weeks ago to showcase and archive (as screenshots) the highest selling video-tapes on the different eBay-platforms every week. I'm satisfied with how it's going so far, therefore it's time to make it public and share the link: http://videoprices.wordpress.com/ I’m known to start online projects and then abandon them shortly after, because I think they’re not worth the time I have to invest. To keep this thing going any feedback would be greatly appreciated. This blog could especially use some expert analysis of the weekly results, since I hardly know anything about tape-collecting. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. |

Most keen collectors keep at least half an eye on the Ebay sites, looking for rare titles to buy & also compare prices etc. This is a pretty time consuming project for sure, but certainly one that is highly informative & interesting for many people I'm sure, so thank you for sharing. It really is quite facinating seeing a title vary so much in what it sells for. With your statistics it may well provide extra insight as to hot & cold selling spells. Times of the year, times of the day & how item listed. There are many ways to sell on Ebay & experience counts for a lot as quite often wording makes a huge difference in how a movie sells. With this study it may well just give the seller in particular a better opportunity to acquire more for their item. Thanks again. |

Very nice sites, but they don't include some information I'd deem necessary to understand how a certain price was reached, such as all the pictures included in the listing, infos on the seller or the complete list of bids placed etc. If I had the skills necessary to write a script like that, the project would be much better/bigger (but then again I'd probably build an entirely different video database first)Here's what I posted on the blog today:
