Of course it's very annoying what's happening. I don't know who the "buyers" are, don't know their reasons, so can't give and objetive opinion. Only thing can do is give you a good suggestion based on my vast experience in life: Never make plans with money you don't have.
cheers amigo and don't let this let you down  ;)

I agree, my mistake maybe. But you would think a buyer has the decency to follow through on an agreed deal, especially if the tapes have been held for him for 7 months (!)

This is a good point. No excuses for this. 1 month, probably 2, but 7 months! That's not serious at all.
'Salvare la faccia' is not a giallo!!!

sure - financial problems can hit you like a truck...

questions:
-has mike his tapes back from a buyer who fell behind the payment plan?
-did none of the buyers who owe mike decent money ever buy a tape from someone else in the meantime?

Best
Marc

Question 1: have not sent tapes yet
Question 2: yes!

Oh, I see...

Damn Mike, tought times for sure. I know I have purchased some great tapes from you over the last year and even though times got tough, I still managed to PAY for them. a DEAL is a DEAL and if anyone's gonna make one with Mike, Then you know you must honor it in a somewhat relative time frame. We all know the economy sucks right now and we all know jobs are at risk And WE all know that's one of the defining reasons Mike sold off so much of his collection. It was for his and his families best interest and security in these troublesome times so it goes without saying anyone that bought from him had some understanding of these things as well and it only makes sense to do the right thing and work with him...especially like he says, cats that owe him cash who have bought tapes from others since the deal he made with them...again, times are super tough, but in the end, if you cant afford the TAPES dont buy'em...Sorry it's gotten a bit dicey bro...global nightmare & gloBULL Nightmare! :tapelove:

First off this is a good lesson for the future. But that doesn't clear the current situation.
Getting their names out would surely make the collecting world less enjoyable as this will be heard in any discussion regarding one of the 'bad payers'.

I think first off I would contact the moderators or the owners of the particular site they were sold to negotiate on behalf of you.
In these kinda dealings a third party is the best wauy to handle things. In normal life you get a lawyer to fix things but that is not likely in this case.
So this is what I would do I guess.

shitty situation...

I can understand Mike complety... a deal is a deal...

but for the others...
if finanical problems (like losing a job, getting divorced etc...) hit you that's not always your fault... so I can understand the trouble than...

but "changing your collecting habits" is a bullshit reason, and I have no respect for those who give that for not paying or making trouble with it...

changing collecting habits is no real reason.

what he should do is just buy them and when he gets them just sell them straight away.
WHEN THERE IS NO MORE ROOM IN HELL THE DEAD WILL WALK THE EARTH.

I'm curious about the names anyway...

I don't want to start another off-off topic but once I posted something similar to Mike about some abuse from some people (I named someone from Italy at the time) and you closed down my thread and opened a new one saying that it is strictly forbidden to POST names or to point out that someone did something wrong. Here I can understand if you ask Mike to PM you the names but in your previous post right above you state: YOU CAN POST THE NAMES HERE...

I mean? I understand the guy I was angry about at the time was one of your acquaintances but you should stick to the rules you posted earlier :(

I think it is a good thing Mike brought this up, been wondering about how other members thought about this for quite a while...
I share your experiences and I think that those doing a lot of trades or sales through this great forum don't need any names to know very well who these few folks are...

Good to know I'm not the only one who is bugged by this behaviour, won't let it ruin the fun for myself as I very well know this mentality is just how some people are and I try to live up to my agreements myself so I can at least face myself in the mirror as far as trading VHS is concerned...

Sometimes unexpected financial difficulties can hit you hard but I've heard the "I now changed my collecting habits to other sorts of tapes" talk in the past as well... "oops!:

I have great love for dusty old VHS tapes and I try to keep my collecting about love for VHS in the first place so I try not to let it bug me because then it takes the essence out of what it once started with; PURE VIDEO LOVE!!!
