That stupid fucker musica_eternal has now been removed from eBay, the negative feedback has gone with him and my feedback profile is once again immaculate. Good riddance!

Today I made another decision in relation to an open deal. Had a very large deal arranged, for several extremely rare tapes. Deal agreed last January, 8000 euro in total. We agreed to 1500 downpayment and 750 monthly payments until the deal was closed (anticipated autumn 2011). Payment has been very slow and not according to plan. Later in the year I offered the buyer a 1000 euro reduction on the basis I would get regular monthly payments of 450 euro. This has also not materialised and several payments were below the agreed total or were missed altogether. 14 months into the deal I have received 51 percent of the total.

I will unpack 2 rare tapes from the parcel tomorrow (about half the deal value if not a good bit less). The remaining tapes will be sent to the buyer and that will close the deal.

Not something I enjoy to do but at the current rate it would be another year and a half to get the transaction fulfilled and I don't have the nerves for it.

I am really upset and annoyed.

Thoughts?

My thoughts.

We collectors are a diverse bunch of people but many times we are a bit like junkies. To make a score and find or buy a rare film gets our adrenalin pumping. We get hooked on the feeling. The feeling of getting a priced possession to our dear collection. Filling a hole. The problem is that the feeling fades. Once the tape arrives we enjoy it for a while. A short while. We need another hit of adrenain. We are probably into our next deal. Our next conquest. This can become a downward spiral and suddenly you find yourself make deal for 8000 euro. The feelning must be of extasy. Somehow you will make it work you think. I will get so many rare tapes. But the feeling of exstasy fades. The payment plan is not attractive anymore. There's new deals, new conquests that seem more attractive. You need the adrenalin. I know I got Michaels tapes and payment plan, but hell, those other tapes will never surface again. I need to make a deal now with that other guy. Downward and downward it goes...

Well. That's my thought. I'm not the one owing you the money thankfully. But I know the mechanics behind collecting and the searches for the "sugar rush". I think you shuld re-negotiate. The deal is obviously broken. Ask for payment up front for what's left or you'll sell them to someone else. I should also be careful not to do big deals with exstensive payment plans. I know it's a hassle to sell tapes to lots of people and the comfort of just making a big deal. But my experience is that they often go sour. If yo depend on the money coming in it's not a good idea.

ABSOLUTE AGREE WITH YOU JÖNAS!

often its the rush of finding a tape, waiting for it arrive......and sometimes people make promises that they cant hold.....even when they thought they could.

probably best to make an agreement with the guy, give him the tapes he paid for....and break the deal for the others, unless he can/want to pay for them direct.
than put the tapes up for sale again, but dont make the same mistake of offering people to pay in the future if the amounts are to high ....... 8000euro is alott of money to ow somebody for videotapes ...... the poor guy had probably sleepless nights  ...... oh my god what have I done! what shall I telll my wife

Damn, some people are saints. I mean, waiting over the year to get money? I would loose my patience after the month, In fact I usually do.

Impossible how greedy(yes, greedy) some people are. They know, they can't afford and still instead of buying what they can afford and pay on time, they want a whole bunch for a money out of space, which they don't have.

Last year I bought whole collection of Karate movies from the biggest collector of such a movies in my country. I asked if I can pay for it(several thousands) in 2,5 months and get them in person. The guy agreed fastly and had no problem with it at all but I still felt terrible that I can't pay him sooner. It was so painful, that I borrowed the money from the friend of mine and paid month earlier than I planned.

I don't understand the people who don't pay for 7 months and they have no problem with it....But I know some people who don't pay fast and even when they finally close the deal, they feel like you should kiss their asses because they bought the stuff from you!

Thoughts?

Sums like 8.000 means it's a business affair, not like 2 chaps exchanging stuff.
Take another example:
If you wanted to buy, say, a couch, that costs 2.000 euro
and you have 1.000 in cash and you need the rest ,
what do you do?
Do you propose to the shop owner that you give him the 1k in advance
and pay 200 every month for 5 months?
No matter if the shop is IKEA or the local shop down the road,
the seller isn't going to accept it.
He 'll say "pay by credit card" for example.
My sister bought a couch that way (credit card),
in fact the shop was cooperating with a bank
and they issued the credit card at the moment.
So the businessman gets his money
and doesn't have to worry if my sister is not trustworthy.
If she fails to pay, she 'll have to deal with a bank, the bank's lawyers etc. etc.
So , why should you play the role of the bank?
It's not your responsibility and you don't have the means for the role.
You have your day job, your family, your problems, you can't
solve other peoples' problems.
The buyer who is after something that he needs so dearly,
can use his credit card, take a loan, whatever.
8.000 is not to be taken lightly.
Otherwise you can find some one else.
Just my thoughts.

After 18 months I have part-terminated the last remaining deal and re-sold the tapes.

Hopefully this will bring the Giallo sale to a close.

Thank God. I am tired of chasing payments and re-pack parcels all the time.
