Thank you John K. I know it's kind of late to revive this thread, but here's confirmation for the claim that the "Snake Queen" movie from the lobby cards (蛇國女王) is indeed the Thai film "Mae ngu" (แม่งู): The author of this wonderful website has posted pictures for both the Thai and Chinese posters which can be seen in this link (scroll down until the film appears; approx. in the middle of the page): http://www.thaiworldview.com/tv/thaihk2.htm แม่งู - year 1972 - 蛇國女王 - "Snake Queen" Apparently the original Thai version was a way over 2 hours long movie that also included various songs (as was common in Thailand at the time). Those are not present in the much shorter Chinese version. |

I was actually thinking of this thread the other day, so cool to get final confirmation about the film. Btw, have you watched the gory Taiwan war flick LAST BREATH aka Jungle Heat? I'm aware of no less than three different edits, the Taiwan/HK version, the international version, and the Mainland China version. But someone in Thailand claims there's a Thai version as well - with at least ONE famous Thai actor in it. But I haven't been able to find any proof of this (and he hadn't seen the film, just the Thai poster). Have you heard of any of this? I'll make a separate thread about it. |

Yes, I'm glad the mystery behind this film could be resolved. Now, if only the Thai version would surface somewhere... And John K can hunt for not one, but two beautiful posters of the film As for Last Breath/Jungle Heat, unfortunately I haven't seen the film since my interest and research very much centers around fantastic cinema. But the Japan VHS seems to be the best choice for this film by far. |

Yeah, I suspected you'd be more info the fantastic genre. Yes, the Japanese vhs is the best version of the international edit (and yes, I've got it). If the Thai edit is released I'm sure it's only on a Thai vcd. |
