Whether some are bootlegs or not, you are sitting on a little treasure-trove there Tom!

Even the bootlegs will probably sell or trade well for you if you part with them after making DVD-R copies. And, again, bootleg or not these are invaluable for referene purposes as even the copied sleeves show label/distributor information and have cool artwork that can be used. Awesome stuff indeed...i am very jealous!

Let me know if you get around to having DVD-R copies made as i would be interested in a few of those for trade. I still haven't seen SATAN'S SLAVE and i can't recall where my copy of DUKUN LINTAH was sourced from or what the quality is like. High-res 300dpi scans of the sleeves for the likes of those would be great too for creating custom sleeves to make these things look hotter on the shelf...;P

Im thinking of making dvdr's of the movies that are not released on vcd or dvd.

I was going to make dvdr's of them anyway .....
but I mean making around 10 or 20dvr's of each unreleased movie and put them up for sale. I can make a foto-print sleeve for them, instead of an inktjet print.
will see how much it will cost for a movie to make 10 dvdr's with sleeve and cd box.

would be even cooler to make dvdr's with subs ......

dont know .... still thinking what I should do with the bootleg movies ........
if some are unreleased on vcd or dvd till now ..... its a pitty not to do anything with it . . ...

any suggestions?

That all sounds cool! But in regards to subtitles, we don't have anybody here who speaks Indonesian and who could translate them. That's the problem. And if they're unreleased films there's not much chance of other fans having made subs.

As far as the sleeveless bootlegs are concerned Tom, they may still be a great source for a nice copy of those films if sourced directly from the original tapes. So, definitely consider copying them to disc.

As for the others...i would suggest making DVD-R copies and scanning the sleeves (even the bootleg ones...including the ones done in single colour on coloured paper stock) at high-resolution (300dpi or higher). Instead of worrying yourself about printing sleeves, just provide a copy of the scans via email. That way anyone you trade DVD-R copies with can decide if they wish to print off a sleeve or just keep the artwork on their computer.

As far as subs, leave that work to someone else. Speak to the guys at CultFilmSubs and i am sure they will know someone somewhere who is a member who can sort the subtitle translations and create the .srt files if you provide them a copy of each film...=)

think its nicers to make orriginal pressed sleeves .... tha their is still some orriginalety to the dvdr's.

when I give/sell/trade 1 person a dvdr with a sleeve sended by mail ....... than it wont take long to send the mail forwards.

since some of the orriginal sleeves have gluwed pictures on the front of the sleeve, I was thinking of putting a sticker image on the dvdr sleeve aswell ..... so the vibe of the tape stays a bit alive :)

I just watched the movie "Panasnya Selimut Malam" the sleeve saydis was a drama .... but the images on the sleeve gave me a different impression.

Füçking weird movie!

I have to admit, im not familiare with indonesian cinema .....
flying heads, flying snakes, monkey people, demon fights, I head killing a baby, muslim brothers that save the day .... weird laser spacial effects! great movie!
did look like the image was cropped ..... that the cinema version would have been in widescreen.

also the betamax quality was surprisingly good! only the audio of the tape wasnt that impressive .... you could hear when a new scene came .... perhaps allready a problwmm with the master print?

here is a poster of the movie, video sleeve looks a bit simular

Many of the "drama looking" tapes could be weird/violent movies. You should check them

Wow! So cool!

It'd be amazing if Pete Tombs could dig these up and give them a proper release! I can't get enough Indo fantasy cinema. One of my favorite local cinemas in the world! :D
