Thanx for the link. Yes, of course, O THANATOS THA XANARTHI (translated as DEATH WILL COME AGAIN), a nice film too, one of Bill's favourites!

$1 weekly?

It is an Australian release for the Greeks who live there. So it is Aussie dollar actually

I guess it was from the last days of VHS when all videoclubs had DVDs mainly so VHS rental was really very cheap...especially for old titles.

I thought I should provide English translations of these titles to get an idea...
Here we go:

ENOHES SHESEIS (O GIOS MOU O STEFANOS) = GUILTY RELATIONSHIPS (MY SON, STEFANOS)
It's a story of a lonely pianist who lives in a big old house with his depraving mother. He has human size dolls in his room, he talks to them, gives them names and of course (!) he has sex with them. When a young beautiful woman from the city comes into his life the nightmare starts....

DRAKULAS & SIA = DRACULA AND COMPANY
A horror comedy with some suprising eerie scenes for a Greek movie of the 50s.

EGLIMA STO KOLONAKI = MURDER IN KOLONAKI

ELLINIKES ISTORIES MYSTIRIOU KAI FANTASIAS = GREEK STORIES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION
Very cool horror tv series of the 80s!

ENOHES SHESEIS (O GIOS MOU O STEFANOS) was apparently inspired by two American thrillers with the great Victor Buono: What Ever Happended to Baby Jane?, where Buono is a lonely, hung up pianist living with his oppressing mother, and the "super-cult-movie" The Strangler (Italian title: DOLLS of Desire), where he is a psychopathic murderer of young women.

As the thread headline indicates this thread isn't just about Greek horror films, but Greek cult films in general.

Here's one that I've just won (that some unknown guy said was really good and that I ought to buy). :D

DEADLY TRAP (PAGIDA STIN ELLADA)
directed by Andreas Katsimitsoulias (1982)

Yes, this thread turned about horror only. Greece made a lot of good strong action films and those starring Lakis Komninos were of the best.

Returning to Greek horror(...)
Thanx to Andreas, I thought I forgot to mention the newer independent gory flicks shot on video by Philippos Halatsis.
