I was in contact with our fellow Cinepup Mads Jensen a short while back with regards to the AWE dvd release of Polselli's RIVELAZIONI DI UNO PSICHIATRA SUL MONDO PERVERSO DEL SESSO. I had been following the various announced release dates since AWE announced it and wanted to see if an exact date had been set for the announced December 2012 release...

Alas, Mads informs me that (for reasons beyond his control or understanding) the DVD of this has been postponed yet again...=(

perhaps because of the "controversial" footage ? funny that redemption films announced it an eternity ago...(either they didnt see the movie or it was intended to be a cut release? )
frankly this is not exactly polselli´s "highlight" a release of La verita secondo satana would be something else...but seemingly impossible

Well, it has been said that Image Entertainment (and/or perhaps their distributors) did not want to touch RIVELAZIONI back then due to it being full of too much explicit material (and way-out-there explicit material to boot!).
Then Redemption announced it once or twice as planned for release by themselves (at least one of those was announced for British release at one point i seem to recall!).
Then we have this scenario of Redemption going into liquidation. Then their resurgence. Those rights and materials have been knocked around. AWE announced it in 2010 i believe...then in 2011...and now something like 3 times in 2012....and it is postponed again. A real shame...=(

"technically" there is the italian dvd release from shendene....not very attractive for everbody as its subless/ italian only.. but this dvd came out years ago..
(for some weird reason the ofdb says that shendene´s release is cut? i dont recall cuts when i watched it..)
if awe is so "hot" for releasing it why not a double bill with the superior (in my opinion) oscenita.. :D

Not sure Shendene's is cut to be honest. News to me! Perhaps it has print damage though? Or maybe they consider it cut because whole chunks were removed from the original edit and replaced with hardcore? Who knows why they said it was cut...who knows...
That version used my friend's master tape. The version AWE announced for release is set to be the original edit. However...Redemption prepared a composite edit using the original negative and a video master. This was in order to create the "longest version ever" which, in my opinion, is wrong to do. This film has been in sore need of release in its original softcore edit for sooooooo long and deserves the chance to be seen in that original vision. The hardcore edit could be assembled later and released also. But i am not sure i can agree with Redemption's creation, ala Baron Frankenstein, of a monster...a bastard edit that has no bearing on any of Renato's original visions for the film. His 1973 edit is the most important to release as it represents that first vision. The hardcore re-edit is something done for commerical reasons and as such deserves a release in remastered form also but not nearly as much as that original soft edit. To fuse two sources together to create an long version is a vanity project and no doubt would mess with the story as Renato intended it.
I am not sure which version AWE actually plan on eventually releasing. I think it will be whatever Redemption sends them as i can't see them going turning their backs on the composite they put together...?

i assume that the two vhs releases from rivelazioni are identical ..(in other words: they contain the hardcore footage..same running time).so this original softcore edit was actually never released? its weird that redemption was (supposedly) aiming at a composite version including the h/c scenes as i thought this... and the topic of necrophilia,etc..was exactly the reason why they dropped their "announcement"
beyond that i wonder what are the other differences in the original edit, if there is the speech of a "longest" version than the difference can hardly be just a few inserted h/c scenes more or less

i recall a somewhat "mysterious" description of la verita secondo satana on antonella fulcis (long offline) website fartoria(!) i dont recall details but there were scenes described which i dont recall seeing in the movie...at least not the version which i saw

The 'Hobby Video' release of RIVELAZIONI and the later Nocturno/Shendene VHS and DVD release are the same. The Redemption version is (allegedly) from the original negative and also a master tape representing the exact same version as the master loaned to Shendene. Apparently, the negative (soft edit) was missing a few bits present in the video master (hard edit) and as such these were inserted. But i think all the new material (hard) was inserted into the negative transfer also, which i think is wrong to do being that Renato filmed the original soft edit (his director's cut) and later re-edited it and included hard inserts....and that was how he wanted them...separate visions.
The negative seemed to have been missing part of the end of the film too (bizarrely enough) and so the final minutes of the film are from the old video master.

As for LA VERITA' SECONDO SATANA...Antonella may have been talking about the hard edit perhaps? Much like the RIVELAZIONI hardcore inserts, Renato was not happy with the results at all and considered it an ugly exercise in purely commercial exploitation of the market.

i think it was a guest-reviewer i doubt it was herself...yes i think there was the speech of h/c scenes, apparently some "nastier" scenes with the participation of rita calderoni..
if that review wasnt just an invented hoax then two things seem kinda certain 1)the h/c version is well "locked" with only select people have access to 2)there is no "big info" or some "talk" about it either..which makes kinda sense (how to write about something which is not possible to view?)..the fascinating thing is this long offline "review" is the --only--online mentioning of the h/c edit ever (at least i am aware of  )and in the "meantime" nothing has "popped up" or at least more informations surfaced about it..

The hardcore edit of LA VERITA' SECONDO SATANA does indeed exist...my friend owns the rights and materials (and was no doubt the person who wrote the review on Antonella's site!). I have a screener that he sent me to cover in my book (and for the archive). Lots of ugly hard inserts that don't match very well and which destroy the original vision...and yet, while most of the hard footage is porn performers, some of new explicit shots (for instance, solo stuff) is definitely the actors...i analysed it long and hard...lol

interesting...so this review can´t be labeled as "myth"...(more under the tag of "keeping a low profile" :D ) even though it "seems" quite that its one thing to be interested in something... and another to be able to see it.. :D
if it are just h/c inserts the interest is rather slim to me and frankly the later h/c "phase" with bruno vani is allmost of no interest to me,.. what is (possibly) interesting is the alternative shots of the actors..a prime sample is the alternative(and more sleazy) footage of Delirio Caldo..
but whoever owns the rights to the movie i guess it is a somewhat similar case as delitto al luna park with slim chances for a official(!)dvd release..
