A great interview Dougy.

Honestly I don't think I have ever read a Mandrake strip or comic (maybe the odd newspaper strip and of course when he has appeared in The Phantom) and I am not sure why (availability may have something to do with it). He is such an interesting character.

I am so looking forward to the Annual and Captain Action #1 to finally get my hands on some quality (hopefully) Mandrake comics & stories.

And then bring on the normal series.

I'll print the interview and read it later today. Great to see a new article, and especially about a project as exciting as this. Mandrake looks to get a major revival very soon.

An interesting interview. I would love to have heard even more details about possible story-plots and such, but I understand that it's probably difficult for Mike to spill all the beans this early in the process of making a Mandrake comic.

Lothar has been updated for quite some time; however, I have tweaked him a bit. He's more suave, sophisticated and downright scary than he's ever seemed in the panels of the newspaper strips.

"Downright scary" sounds exciting. I look forward to see how this will be achieved, as Lothar always struck me as a very friendly person. Then again, so is the Phantom, but definetely not when somebody opposes him. ;) :D

We just finished the final script for the Annual, so now I have to get back to work on some Phantom scripts, but after I have #26 in the can, Mandrake #1 is up next. All I can tell you right now is to expect a big story, spanning forty plus pages that will set the tone for everything that is to come.

I look forward to the Annual even more than the regular comic book series starting. If I'll enjoy it only half as much as Annual #1, it'll still be a very cool book.

Mandrake IS an interesting character!!!And I think he's the ONLY character who can closely compare wid Falk's 2nd creation:GWW!! :D ;)

Btwn,FREW had published some 12 issues on Mandarke(ALL frm Phil Davis early works...those are gr8!) in 1990-91..didn't you read those??
In fact,MORE you read Falk-Fredrick's creations,specially those btwn 1965-1991/92 ,MORE you'll love this Magician...who leads a true fascinating life like Mr.Walker! :D

I only discovered that these existed the other day. I had no idea Frew had produced them until then but I assume they only had limited succes and that is why they stopped. I have no idea how I missed them but I am thinking this may have been just before I started collecting.

I am keeping an eye open on vairous websites though because if I can find them I plan to snap them up.

Nothing so far. I wouldn't be surprised if it's dead given the luck-warm response to the Annual.
