I just read this and it while it was a great story and it was also great to see the Phantom, Mandrake & Lothar all together I found the story to be little disjointed in places. There seems to be spots within the story were a few more panels could have been added to make the story flow a little bit better. My only other complaints were that Guran was little skinny for my liking (I know this is a minor point but I have always seen Guran as the a little on the tubby side) and also would the Phantom really let a Lion kill a person, even if that person was a bad guy. On the up side it was once again great to see Mike have a villain from previous issues pulling the strings and also having this story fit into the current Moonstone time line. Also I love the fact that there are a few loose ends at then end of the story. This keeps me wanting to get future issues to see when the Phantom/Mandrake run into all these guys again. The last page was also very powerful, it really gets the point across not to mess with the Phantom or the Bandar. Overall I really enjoyed this story and I voted Very Good. |

I liked this though at times the Art made the story hard to follow and I agree with Geagas a few more panels were needed from time to time. However I liked how it was one continuous by the same writer and artist unlike the last annual. |

Actually, Kevin & I plotted it together, then he scripted the first 22 pages and I scripted the last 22 pages. |

yeah i realized that after i wrote it so i guess i should have said the same writers but my point still stands having a single story instead of one thats divided up into small parts is a better way to go IMO for the annuals.

It was certainly a lot less hassle. The first one was fun, but it had similarities to cat herding... Edited by Mike Bullock, Jan 19 2009, 09:56 AM.

I liked the first one; it's cool that the Annual gives room for some "experiments", #2 no exception as it also features Mandrake. But a future project like the Annual #1 may need longer prep time ![]() Speaking of which, is Annual #3 in the works yet? ![]() Haven't read #2 yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm a huge Mandrake fan at heart! |

Not at this time. With the relaunch of the main series, the launch of Generations, Chronicles II and yet another new Phantom project also in the works, there isn't time to devote to an annual at the moment. But, once I clear my plate a bit, I'll probably get rolling on one. |

Bought this today. Decided to check out my local comic store (which I rarely do) and what do you know? They had the annual in there. Not with the cover I wanted though but I bought it anyway. It was cover 'A'. The story was pretty good. Although The Phantom and Mandrake didn't really connect when they first meet. And I actually laughed out loud when the Phantom let a lion eat a no good roughneck. That was cool. More violence I say. I also enjoyed the Velociraptors even though it was very brief. I think I'll be collecting the Mandrake series as well. |

I really wanted to love this issue but I just couldn't. If you'd like to know my thoughts I've added a review to the site. |

I really didn't like the photo's used for some of the backgrounds. I remember Glen Ford doing that a while back. I thought it was cool when I was a kid but looking at it now it seems cheap and lazy. And it also reduces the consistency in the comic. |

A well thought out review of the 2nd Annual, JD. My thoughts exactly. I hope to pick up Moonstones, Phantom #0 today, I'm sure we'll be moving forward once more with this release.
