Well the new season has just started in Oz with the Christmas Special airing. What was everyone's thoughts on the episode. I thought it was pretty good. I was a little disappointed it wasn't on the original Titanic but hey, that's a small issue. Something about the portrayal of the Queen rubbed me the wrong way as well but overall I really enjoyed the episode. I even teered up a bit at the end when Kylie (sorry, can't remember her characters name) died.

I am looking forward to the return of the Bride in the upcoming season, I though she was a great comic foil for the Doctor in the last Christmas special. i have also heard rumours Rose will make a return for a few episodes (I am not searching the internet so as not to spoil the upcoming season) so this would be great as well.

I liked it. I'm not keen on Kylie but she did suit this. I thought she looked better in this too. I missed a lot of the last several episodes so someday i'll need to catch hold of those.

Love it! Easily the best of the Christmas specials thus far. I thought Kylie was fantastic and the Doctor's "I'm The Doctor, I'm a Time Lord..." speech gave me chills, it was brilliant. It was quite a touching episode too, all three seasons of Who have been tear jerkers. I really liked how little things nodded back to past events from previous season, I thought having London abandoned for fear of alien invasion was a great touch.

Personally, this is one thing that had me fearing season four. I thought Catherine Tate (the bride) was extreamly annoying and I thought that Christmas special was terrible. I admit that now I've seen a few trailers and have heard a few things about the series that I'm a little less worried but I'm still quite stand-offish about her. I loved Martha, I can't see the sense of replacing her with this old bag. Martha is much more interesting IMO.

And yes...a certain someone does come back.

So does everyone know who the returning classic villain is yet? I won't spoil it, I'll just say I hope the Doctor is up on his Venusian kung-fu! :D

It's been rumored every season so far that he'll be coming back. With only one Dalek left in existence (that we know of) at the end of last season it'll be interesting to see what they do with the Daleks now. I'm trying to stay away from spoilers but I've seen an image of a red Dalek floating around.

Just read this over at Outpost Gallifrey;

The BBC Press Office and various media sources (originally broken by MediaGuardian) have announced that Steven Moffat is to succeed Russell T Davies as the chief writer and executive producer of Doctor Who when it returns for its fifth series.

The article states that Moffat will replace Davies in 2009, taking over as "showrunner" for the fifth series in 2010. Moffat has been responsible for several episodes of the revived Doctor Who to date, including the BAFTA Award-winning "Blink" and the forthcoming two-parter "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead".

Davies is quoted as saying: "It's been a delight and an honour working with Steven, and I can't wait to see where his extraordinary imagination takes the Doctor. Best of all, I get to be a viewer again, watching on a Saturday night!"

The BBC press release includes a comment from Moffat himself: "My entire career has been a Secret Plan to get this job. I applied before but I got knocked back 'cos the BBC wanted someone else. Also I was seven. Anyway, I'm glad the BBC has finally seen the light, and it's a huge honour to be following Russell into the best - and the toughest - job in television. I say toughest 'cos Russell's at my window right now, pointing and laughing."

Moffat will continue as a director on the board of Hartswood Films, which produced Coupling and Jekyll, where he is also working on a new comedy Adam & Eve with wife Sue Vertue.

It's a shame to see Davies leave but Moffat has been responsible for the best episodes of every season thus far so this is good news!

So what did everyone think of last nights episode? Personally I thought it was okay. It seems Who starts off the season with a so-so episode and then build up after about ep 3 or 4. It was almost a little too silly although the Adipose were very cute. The Nanny was less scary as a villain than my left foot and there was no sense of danger in the episode at all. And Donna....I'll just say I'm looking forward to Martha's return.

But it was fun, so not a terrible episode. Kind of take it or leave it for me. Next week looks good though.

I found it kind of so-so. It did not seem to reach a peak. The Adipose were to cute to be scary and the Nanny just didn't seem to be a villian. In fact in the Doctor Who confidential episode that followed the actress that played the Nanny said she didn't see herself as a villian, therfore she was never going to come across as scary or evil.

I still don't mind Donna. I like that this relationship does not seem like it will fall into a romantic type of thing. Just two mates travelling through space and time. All they need is a couple of tinnies and it would remind me of my mates and our last roadtrip.

And as for Rose, did I jump out of my seat or what. I knew she was coming back but I was not expecting it in episode 1. I can not wait now to see where they are going to go with this (and I am struggling not to look online, I have already spoiled a few of the upcoming episodes by getting little tidbits).

Donna is just annoying to me. And if the Doctor started drinking I'd stop watching and burn all my DVDs.

Before you burn them, sell them to me. :D

I agree she can be annoying but I think that is what makes the chemistry between the Doctor and her good. He can't stand some of the things she does and I just sit back and laugh at the poor fellow. It's like he got married or something.

It wasn't too bad. Better than the first ep. not as good as the Christmas special. Donna still annoys me.

They need to get rid of Donna. The Ood episode was pretty good.

Martha is back this week so that will help ease the pain, and then

Spoiler: click to toggle

so it should get less annoying with them!
