Just finished my want list, for a guy who claims he only reads Phantom Comics it's surprisingly big.

Should be good, can't wait to meet all you guys.

Thanks to Chronicle chamber for organising this meet up. It was great to catch up with those of you who could make it yesterday and I would certainly do it again.

Perhaps a future meet up could be organised for those who could not make it this time?

I've just got home and I had a great time, both at the CC meet up and the LFMBEC dinner. It was good to finally put some names to faces. I have a few photo's I took that I will try to work out how to post on here in the next couple of days.

And to let a little secret out, organisation for the 2010 CC meet up has already been discussed between JD & myself and something will be posted in the forums very shortly.

It turns out I am not as stupid as I seem and I have managed to get the pictures onto my computer already. Please see below the thumbnail images of the pictures I have taken (click on the thumbnail for a larger image). Apologies for the quality, the camera on my mobile is not great.

I have also written below each image who is in the photo. There are a few guys names that I can't remember (sorry for that) so if you appear or you know the name of someone I have missed, PM me and I will edit this post.

Thanks a bunch for these photos, Geaghs, looks like it was a great time.

By the way, what did Dave Gibbons talk about during the dinner?

Honestly, I can't recall a lot of it. Germ or JD may be able to provide a little more info but from what I remember he talked a little about his career, a little about Watchmen and briefly touched on the Phantom. It wasn't a long talk, probably only 20 minutes or so.

He then showed some amazing sketches he had donated for the auction which were of the phantom posing with various Watchmen characters. One of the Phantom standing with Rorschach, one of the Phantom standing with the Comedian and one of the Phantom with Night Owl (I am not sure how to explain this one but it was basically the Phantom & Night Owl interacting/hands on each others shoulders type thing. This was hands down the best of the three). Everyone of these sketches went for over $1500.00 each (probably all closer to $2000 then $1500).

The auction was pretty cool as well with a lot of great items up for bidding and I think a lot of money was raised for the Westmead Children's Hospital.

I actually managed to win something in the auction so I was pretty happy. I purchased a copy of Mustanaamio #13 2001. I am actually pretty stoked I won this as it contains two Phantom stories and a Mandrake story as well. Now to get to translating.

WOW! I'd absolutely love to see those, being a big fan of the Watchmen book (and movie), so I hope the people who bought it decides to post the art on the Internet sometime.

Luke.. thanks for those quick updates and photos. It's good to see photos of fellow Phans from the forum together like that.

Meeting Dave Gibbons, quite a moment.

I had to post this; I got to meet Lara Croft!!!

They said after the auction that Dave would be making photocopies of the sketches he did, signing them and sending them out to everyone who attended so, yes, you'll get to see the sketches eventually.

Sweet, I thought I heard that but I wasn't sure.

I also think Redbeard took a photo of JD, Germ, Myself and himself with Glen Ford, so if you are reading this Redbeard, can you please PM me because I wouldn't mind getting a copy of it if possible.

I just remembered an amusing happening from the day that I will share just to try and embarrass Germ a little bit.

Germ was ticking some items of in his price guide when Nigel told him that he was using the right book. Germ then told Nigel that he thought it was alright but that the prices in the price guide were to high. It was only when I lent forward a few seconds later and whispered in Germs ear that he clicked that the person he was talking to was actually the writer of the price guide.

It all ended well though with Nigel signing Germ's price guide.

That photo with Gibbons is all kinds of awesome and Lara Croft is so in character with that perfect pose.

I've been just going back through this thread (Nov 2008) and it's great to look at the progress from Luke's initial suggestion of a meet up to that cool group photo of the CC members.

Let's hope this CC meet up keeps growing bigger. With Legacy nearing production more awareness of the website is going to happen, so for next year's Supanova we should be seeing more Phans and Phantom activity.

And just like Hollywood studios are using San Diego Comic Con to create the buzz for their franchises, Sherlock Symington Productions (and any other studio that is in collaboration with them) should use Supanova as a platform to create the buzz for Legacy. Even if this might be smaller in scale compared to SDCC, it's the perfect venue in Australia for marketing Legacy. And maybe CC could also be part of that, to some degree with SSP.

Good idea. You should shoot them an e-mail and suggest this to them!

I will send some photos I took of the Dave Gibbons art work to JD so he can post them.

It was a wonderful weekend, and meeting other Phantom fans is always an enjoyable experience.

Cheers
