http://www.ipcomics.net/ says that the name of the story is "The Hunt for the Unknown Commander".
That may give us a hint of what kind of trouble they end up in... :P

Why were they ever let in? One of the duties of a Patrolman is to keep the secret and not trying to figure it out! In Team Fantomen stories, the patrolmen that have tried to find out something, been met with some hostility from collegues and the colonel.

If they really want to become members of the Jungle Patrol, they must learn to follow orders.

The title reminds me of Paul Ryan's first Phantom story; "The Invisible Phantom", written by Ben Raab.

The plot then is that an American CIA guy comes to Bangalla to learn the Jungle Patrol modern techniques of crime solving. When learning about the mysterium of the unknown commander, he decides to solve it, as he is one of the best crime investigators on the Earth. He gets strong orders to don't do it, but continues. We are following his thoughts and he is guessing quite close to the truth. Finally, the unknown commander sends order to Worubu to send him at a one-man assignment as some important Bandar guy has disappeared and is needed to be located. The man is convinced that it must be the unknown commander and after some waiting he finds - Guran.
Due to his unwillingness to give up the search for the unknown commander, he is sent back to the US, but he has given up.

Wonder if Ryan will get some deja vú feelings while drawing?

The 4th of July strip shows a patrolman named Weeks – homage or relative of former Colonel Weeks? -_-

In the end it was not much of a plot, merely some kind of filler for the stories about the patrolwomen, a little bit like "Justice for the Python".
