20th May 2008 Here is our plot. I will take wider photos from further back on our July 08 visit. ![]() In this design the house is 1 long ground floor front to back. The back will be within the jungle so this will be pretty much the view you will have from outside. I will edit the jungle in and post 'in situ' at some point... ![]() This is the same design with the jungle edited in... ![]() Now I have redesigned using the same layout and general plan of one long house. The earth-bag walls are lower so that they are cabinet and bottom of window height which is very practical for our design. There is some concern of an on-the-ground build with damp and insects mainly but a water trench, a good overhang on the roof, and a large gutter should sort this. The walls will also be built on a concrete foundation which will also raise them about 4" off the ground. The earth-bag wall is literally bags of earth used as bricks, rendered with clay or cob or anything. We may then clad with local stone chippings. Here's the updates frontage... ![]() Here's a view of the interior looking down towards the front entrance... ![]() Here's an interior view from the front wall. The green jungle you can see is a mural idea we had. We will commission a local artist to paint this or alternately i will do it myself if there is any problem with the scale, medium etc. ![]() WILL UPDATE THIS AS DESIGN PROGRESSES Edited by Richard Howard, Jun 13 2008, 07:46 AM.
