This is your friendly neighborhood Guildmaster speaking. For those of you who read fanfiction, you might recognize my name. I'm a writer and since my original name from The Fanfiction Forum was unavailable, I chose this, my secondary callsign.

I've decided that this Guild should present a much friendlier face than some of the others that I have heard tell of. The ones where military ranks are the order of the day and the less senior members are ridiculed for their lack of knowledge and used as cannon fodder. It has also been my personal experience in games other than WoW that the Admins/Leaders/Guildmasters tend to be likened unto an internet deity, whose powers and all seeing eye are infallible.

I have no desire nor interest to see our Band turned into nothing more than a copycat online paramilitary.

Hell, even if I did want this to be the case, my own subordinates and Godhands love nothing more than to mess with my head and make me feel like the Leeroy Jenkins I've been so adamantly nicknamed.

No, the Band of the Hawks will be a Guild devoted to fun and doing pretty much whatever the hell we want to, how we want to.

I myself am I quite new to WoW, but I expect that I shall eventually become as competent as some of our more knowledgeable members. So while I might be your Fearless Leader, I'm also the n00b that will be learning right beside you.

In any case, whatever I don't know how to run, I'll delegate to my officers, my trusty "Do All" minions.

This thread, while intended as a general welcome with the first post, shall also serve as a entry log if I should so choose. Such logs will probably include a clearer look at how the officers and myself will do Rankings and Promotions, Instance and Dungeon run schedules, Bank information, and so on, and so forth. Whatever little tidbits that I decide to toss in that I don't on the site.

Lastly, I would appreciate it if no one would post in this thread unless they have a problem that can't be addressed through the PM system or posting in the General Forum.

Good luck and I hope to see more of you join us.

Nothing really new to report.

I plan on doing a bit of bank cleaning this weekend. Also, I plan to promote a handful of Sacrifice to Survivor who have been with us for a decent amount of time and have more than proved themselves. My officers came up with this simple promotion process, but not one of them seems eager to implement it....

So. Mass promotions it is.

Well, to be fair, I haven't been given any reason to suggest anybody for promotion. Except for Sheddie, I haven't had a chance to party with any of the other sacrifice marks and get a feel for their personality or reason to recommend anybody for promotion.

I also don't see why we need to have a certain amount of time for anybody to receive promotions. That sort of defeats the purpose of recommending people for promotion.

I was under the impression that after a fair amount of time, whether or not an officer has formulated an opinion of a member, we would discuss promotions. I don't meam like 20 in one day, but the handful of members that had persevered with us in our opening months.

How long has it been since I've posted in this thread? A very long while, it seems.

So, I shall give the short version of how well we've been progressing.

On June 13th, 2008, the Hawks finally went on their first ever Kara run as a guild. To be honest, I was expecting a great deal of wipes and chaos on Vent. But thanks to the wisdom of several of our more veteran players, including a guest Tank/DPS by the name of FeralHeal, we cleared all the way to Curator with only one wipe, and that was on Oz during the Opera.

I'm very proud of us and I'm glad that the members that stayed with us and stuck it out through the leveling period have more than banded together as good friends and comrades on WoW. I hope that we'll grow rapidly now that we'll be getting experience under our belt and I certainly look forward to the day where we're so big that I have to assign class or platoon leaders.

Also, we're six months old this month.

A surprise is forthcoming.

^_^
