Halo was the most "epic" game in recent memory. Definitely the pinnacle of the video game industry. I can say it's not epic by the aforementioned definition because it can't be... The second definition, we'll have to see. I haven't played NiGHTS, neither have you. So, I'll wait. I would play the first NiGHTS, but I don't have a Saturn, so unless they add it to the VC, I'm not ever going to be playing it. Like I said, we'll wait and see. My money's on SSBB. |

Yeah, there's no way in hell that Halo 3 was the "pinnacle of the video game industry". Just no way in hell. Go to Super Mario Bros., the Sega-Nintendo rivalry, or even Super Mario 64, just don't EVER say that Halo 3 was the pinnacle. Like Zex, I don't even see what's so special about it... |

Has any other game been more hyped? Has any other game had that much advertisement thrown behind it? Has any other game sold more in 6 days? No, no, and no. I didn't say it was the best game, but merely the pride of the industry because of the wide appeal and hollywood-like force behind the title. SM64, SM3, or NiGHTS never produced such results. The "industry" side of things make Halo 3 beat those game senseless. Game QUALITY, on the other hand, is a different story. |

Look. If epic meant popularity-based Hannah Montana would be God. I just think people getting inhumanly hyped up over something that is mediocre doesn't dub it "epic". I would say an epic game means something that people will remember as a GOOD game that stood out in their minds above others in quality and gameplay. |

Want to know a game that has received more publicity than Halo? SUPER MARIO BROS. According to your definition of "the pinnacle of video games", Super Mario Bros. 3 is the pinnacle since it's the best selling game of all time. |

Hah, well, that hardly counts since it was a virtual monopoly on Nintendo's part. And I doubt it had as much of a gaming blitz... Halo also has a bit more influence in the adult world. Mario was more restricted for kids back then. Not to say Mario hasn't had an effect on pop culture. More people recognize Mario than Mickey or Bugs Bunny. But, honestly, Halo 3's media blitz was unprecedented. |
