So Ninty's next console has been pseudo-revealed. Not much about it yet, other than that: -Gimmick controller's back. Will be more akin to a regular controller, except will have its own screen in addition to the TV screen. Chances are this will allow for transfer of content between the system and the controller. -Will be present at E3. Verdict? And source. |

At the very least, I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that Ninty's experimented with this before... |

No no, I know. I actually really liked the GBA / GC connectivity stuff... so I know it'd be neat. I'm just not a fan of controller prices reaching $80 a piece. |

My sentiments exactly. Four Swords was awesome and all, but I have my doubts that every game released for this new system will be able to use it to great effect. It'll be tricky to either 1) justify the probably steep controller price or 2) make the controller affordable enough for most people to by an extra or three. Hey, I personally loved looking down at the controller to remind myself of what game I was playing. Edited by Lavos, Monday Apr 18 2011, 03:19 PM.

Futher tech details: http://wii.ign.com/articles/116/1163362p1.html After reading this, I'd really like to see the console be called SNES 2. I think Nintendo returning to (or at least reincorporating) the design philosophy of the 16-bit days would be a great thing for the industry as a whole. Also, given that Nintendo's new console has some significant power behind it, do you guys think Ninty will start seeing more "hardcore" third party support (like they had with the SNES)? It'd be a refreshing change of pace to see the norm for multiplatform games shift away from Xbox+PS+PC. |

I'm kind of against them releasing it in the near future. From a personal as well as professional viewpoint---the 3DS just launched a month ago. I know I sure as hell wouldn't be able to afford it just yet, and chances are, one of Ninty's projects would suffer because of it. If I were Ninty, I'd aim for holiday 2012. But again, this is all conjecture... As for third party support---I suppose it's too early to tell just yet. We've yet to see what Sony and Microsoft will throw our way, so we really can't figure out where the third parties would lean. But I'm all for it; the Wii didn't have much third party support and Ninty had to rush out pretty much all of their biggest projects by 2008. On another note, what do you guys think this will mean for Skyward Sword? Twilight Princess Take Two? |

oof thats really bad, they'll lose a lot of casual gamers, and that's what i thought nintendo was going for? regardless, that leads me to believe they might go more 'hardcore' again, which is ~badass~ |
