My guess is that it will end up somewhere between the $300-$350 mark. At any rate, while I'm not thrilled about it, I am favorable to the prospect of a more serious system. |

I don't really see it as a good idea for them to release something that far ahead of the new Xbox or Playstation. I know they're Nintendo, so normal statistics and stuff don't entirely apply to them.. but usually if a system comes out over two years before the others it tends to die hard when the other systems pop up. |

I thought the same, though I suppose a year's not so bad---I don't recall how early, say, the Saturn or the Dreamcast were released, but needless to say I think that's the kind of thing Llama was referring to. |

If you have an issue, get a tissue.

They should have it so you can keep playing the game and the downloaded content on the screen with the controller so it's portable, even if you're not connected to the system. Also, making the DS systems or at the very least the 3DS usable as a controller would be smart as well. |

I read somewhere that the system will be revealed at E3 this year, but won't be released until summer of 2012 in japan and late 2012 for the US. Still, i want to know whats real and what is rumor, so E3 needs to hurry the hell up and get here. |

That's the Pillow God Toki-chan's revelation.

No kidding. I've been hearing that the system will even be playable at E3, and that Ninty's original plan was for an October 2011 release - which puts development farther along than I think any of us anticipated. |

Certainly it's farther along than we've realized. I'd even wager it's near completion at this very moment and would actually be ready for a Fall 2011 release. The question is whether putting it on the shelves so far ahead of time would be a smart move in the long run. It'd kill off the Wii, which still has a little bit left in it, and it would crush a measurable amount of the 3DS's momentum. But I'm still eager to see how it's coming along thus far. On a similar topic--you guys think the 3DS games are in a similar position? That is, they're done but Ninty's holding out for more profit? It's entirely plausible; many of these games have not surfaced in a year, and as it stands Ninty's taking more of a "last-minute" approach in terms of launching games. |

I want Troy to share his $5 footlong with me.

These two editors on the site summed it up for me:
I don't see how having a smaller screen when you're sat in front of your colossal 36" screen is going to help gameplay.. I see the touch screen capabilities being way more gimicky, used for minigames and such. Which is exactly where the Wii fell down, in my opinion. Too many third parties jumped onto making crappy games where you just waved the controller above your head.. Now they'll be trying to copy concepts from the DS (which is like.. 4000 years old by now) onto a home console.. Not great! I like the sound of it packing a punch though. I've become a total HD whore recently, so a system more powerful than the PS3 gets me so damp. There's a lot that Nintendo needs to improve before I buy this console (online springs to mind.. Nintendo, y u no use gamertags?!) but let's be honest, I'll probably still fork out however much it is, just because it's a Nintendo home console.. Plus the idea of Mario Galaxy or Zelda in HD makes me grow a fat one.. |
