Your History:
Anastazia's past has been sketchy and hidden. But anyone who knew her well enough knows a lot about her and to her, too much about her. She does her best to keep her past just that... the past.
Born in the British American Colonies. Young Anastazia was raised to be a Gentlewoman of Colonial society. But Ana's wild spirit & curious nature kept her from being the perfect Gentlewoman. Secretly, Anastazia became intregued with pirates.
At aged 13, she ventured forth into the nearby forests. Befriending an old Cherokee Shaman called Uncle Delphi. He taught her various techniques and told her of various legends. Her father did not approve of this by any means and did all necessary to keep Anastazia from the old Cherokee. She, however never forgot about the old Cherokee.
Growing up into a lovely young woman, her romanticism with pirates dimmed. However, she did not stop wanting to learn archery, horsemanship, history, world geography, marksmanship with pistols & other weapons, navigation and more. All the while being a Gentlewoman of Society.
When 17, She was to gain an inheritence but never received anything as her father squandered it all. As war loomed this forced the young woman down a Fateful path. Whisked away from her from home and taking her into the midst of battle, forced to Fort Symington by Dr Canard to kill a man there named Captain Sydenham Poyntz. She met him but instead of killing him… she warned him of the plot. Poyntz then was able to kill Canard. While her brief half-week at Fort Symington she fell in love with the foreigner but he was unable to return her affections as he left too soon and she never saw him again. Also while at the Fort she was raped by a brutal murderer named Munson Miller who disguised himself as a shopkeeper at the Fort. Miller and Poyntz left in the middle of the night under cover of darkness, leaving the civilians – including Ana – at the Fort. At sunrise it was when she discovered along with everyone else that they had been abandoned. Allowed to leave the abandoned Fort by the opposing army, she sought to return home only to find it destroyed and the city overrun by the enemy. During her wanderings, she gave birth to a bastard son she named William. She eventually left her son with friends.
Humiliated, tortured, and every sort of trial one could face during a war... she survived. Finding her way to the opposing forces to help in their struggles. First in disguise as a soldier and dragoon until she was discovered. Then she tried to assist as a camp follower. Having met a young Colonel named John Doddard who at first loathed the young woman for pretending to be a soldier and not being a proper Lady. He later fancied Ana, wooed her and later they were engaged. He was reassigned to the Caribbean with his Regiment. She later joined Doddard in the Caribbean where they were to marry. It was here she met Big Ben, a former pirate who was given a pardon & found himself in a profitable business of a tavern and 2 ships for shipping. But barely a month after she arrived and awaited Doddard's return from his duties, he was killed in action during a battle with the Spaniards. Doddard's death threw her in a depression & sent her off on travel crazes.
In the Caribbean, she met a Spaniard - who at first she loathed but later befriended - showed her a few areas of New Spain that had once belonged to the Mayas & Aztecs. This attracted her attention as she learned about the culture from an old man who was of Mayan decent.
She tried to assist with the army again. But, peacetime saw no need for someone like her. And so, resorted to anything to survive. Even highway robbery which she became rather good at to the point a large bounty was upon her head. Forcing her to flee.
As she fled, she was taken captive. Whisked away to Madagascar where she was sent to the Orient for slave trade. Coming under the possession of a Sultan who was a good friend of Big Ben, the Sultan gave Ana to Big Ben and she joined him in Privateering expeditions to regain the stolen wealth & general British wealth. Serving the Sultan with Big Ben for just over 2 years, having obtained & lost both ships & wealth. The Sultan was very pleased with Ben & Anastazia. Giving Ana much wealth in return - gold, silver, jewels, jewelry, fine silks & fabrics, spices, even a couple horses, a falcon, a white tiger, & more. He & Big Ben made her master & commander of her own ship which was soon enough destroyed. But didn't take long until she obtained a new ship. Remaining in command, but with her 'officers' gave the illusion that she wasn't the Captain but merely a passenger and that her First Mate, Graves, was in charge.
Ben retired to Madagascar as she decided to return to the Caribbean to live out her retirement. That was the plan. Retirement was a short lived option. And no one knows exactly what happened to Anastazia. But a few men dare to tell the tale that as she attempted to sail the Straights of Magellan. Some say she was in a bloody battle that caused her ship to founder. Some say her vessel was smashed upon razor sharp rocks. Some say lightning struck her ship and it sank in a storm. But all will tell ye she crossed paths with the devil of the sea - Davy Jones. Be this true or not, one never knows, no one dares to find out. But most swear that the sight of the Resurrection often means a bad omen or death. The once utterly elegant vessel of the Resurrection fell victim to itself and nature's fury. For when it attempted to sail the Straights, indeed she did cross paths with the Flying Dutchman. The Resurrection had foundered upon the rocks of which it was thrown upon. Many of the crew aboard died violent deaths; spilling the blood of the crew over the decks and sides. Lightning hit the vessel and charred a portion of it. With her crew gone, ship burning and lodged upon the razor rocks with the sea crashing all around and she was dying but doing what she could, refusing to die herself. Fearful of death, angry at God, spiteful of the Devil and begging the sea to be merciful, Davy Jones then offered her a second chance but in that second chance she would serve him. Rare as it was, as Davy Jones loathed women. Agreeing to his propositions, her ship restored to her where she limped back to Madagascar for repairs and to gain more crew. Mystery continues to surround this wicked Lady. Some say she's a curse, some say she's a blessing. Blessed and cursed by the sea, her immortal allies don't stop with Davy Jones. A Siren be amoung her allies as a "Sister" of the sea. Some unholy and revenant pirates be amoung her comrades. Having gained the blessing from Poseidon to sail upon any open waterway protected. Even befriending a mysterious woman known as Tia Dalma. From Governors of every sort and heirarchy, Military men to lowly men and the common seaworthy rabble... she's made allies. And even enemies.
When and where she may have met Hector Barbossa, one never knows. But Ben had mentioned to a couple people that she'd met Hector several times in her life. And yes, indeed she fell in Love with him. But her Love for the pirate did not pin her down to a specific area of the world and sometimes didn't keep her loyal specifically to Hector. Just as much as he was a loner, so was she. And just as much as he was unfaithful, so was she but only because he was and she needed some sort of comfort for her wounded heart. They would often part and go their seperate ways. But would cross paths once again. Now, how she gained the title Lady Barbossa, only the Lady and Captain know that one. But one ALWAYS gets a reaction from her at the mere mention of "Barbossa". Becareful though if you do mention Hector Barbossa's name for she Loves him deeply but loathes him for the heartache he has caused her.
