Stubbornly resisting Cardiff’s revitalization programme, the Green Onion isn’t easy to find, despite being located in the heart of town. In business for forty-years and owned by second-generation Iranians, it’s the heart of the tiny Iranian expatriate population. The food is traditional Persian and exquisite. The décor is eclectic and gently worn; Iranian heirlooms, intimate booths and softly lit by pierced brass lanterns.

The TigerTiger chain can be found over much of Britain and with its modern, trendy design, fusion East/West menu selections and prime location it’s a favorite of the young and single crowd. Cardiff’s version is located in the Friary and has four sub-bars plus a full service restaurant, each with their own theme.
