The Hub

Tourist Office
Crammed in a corner of the Plass, the tiny tourist office doesn't attract much attention. Pamphlets and announcements – most sadly outdated – cover the walls and litter the chipped formica countertop. An old stool usually sits empty and the employee who’s supposed to be manning the shop is rarely seen. The air smells of damp and bleach.

Main Level
Water trickles along the base of the tower day and night, and a mix of flickering fluorescents and old incandescent bulbs leave the far walls in shadow. Tosh’s monitors, Gwen’s station and Suzie’s old workshop are all located on this level, along with the ‘break area’ and the new boardroom. Owen’s bay is one of several recessed, white tiled exam areas along the wall and the main entrance is guarded by an air-tight air lock and a stainless steel cage. Three different stairways (including one old-fashioned iron circular staircase behind Jack’s office), lead to the catwalks above the main level.

Catwalk Level
The catwalks criss-cross the air two stories above the main level, encircle the rift manipulator and the water tower. Jack’s glass walled office is up there, as well as the entrance to the secure archives and the cobbled-together kitchen area that is Ianto’s coffee making domain. Owen’s new hothouse steams up one corner of the catwalk level and the primitive administrative ‘office’ – actually a table made out of a wooden door – is where Ianto attempts to maintain some form of bureaucratic dignity.

Lower Levels
The lower levels range from the library and the general archives all the way down to a warren of dark concrete hallways, blocked off subway tunnels and the several floors of cells, controlled archives and the ever expanding morgue. Most of the lower levels are dark, rarely used, damp and echoing with the ghosts of all who have gone before.

The Bay
Warehouses, docks, piers and the bay itself. Once a thriving shipyard and working bay, industrial traffic has dropped off over the years. Revitalized areas such as that near the Plass include trendy resturants and tourist day trips.

The World

The Valiant
The Valiant; a flying fortress and airfield has become an international symbol of shock when the US President was assassinated by the British Prime Minister on live television during a fake 'first contact'. It's been pulled from active duty while British, UN and American investigative teams struggle to understand all that happened on it - and to create a publicly palatable story while analyzing the records and evidence of a year long paradox.

Paradox

Torchwood-Alpha
The gleaming Torchwood Tower, built on the rubble of destruction, soars into the sky - a symbol of strength and protection. Swift Zeppelins dock at highest point while heroic field agents can be found taking rare moments off in nearby pubs or restaurants - whose owners are proud to see the men and women who keep Great Britain - and the world - safe. Hundreds of scientists, scholars, warriors are employed at Torchwood-Alpha under the leadership of Director Tyler, hero of the cyberman invasion.
