Andy whistled a tune to himself as he climbed the catwalk steps. His hair was still damp and unruly from the shower -- and god, clean-up had definitely necessitated one of those afterward -- and stuck out in spite of his usual efforts. The Hub was strangely quiet except for the click of Tosh's keyboard. Clearly engrossed in her work, he'd been careful no to disturb her.

The warmer air of the greenhouse puffed out as he opened the glass door. "Alright?" He said, and stepped in. Owen looked equally engrossed, but between him and Tosh, Owen was definitely the more talkative over work. Plus, Andy was more likely to be useful. "What's that, then?"

Owen looked up. "Piece of crap, mostly." He set the piece of corroded hardware down, another piece flaking off. "Water's damaged it beyond repair. Dunno if we'll even be able to take it apart for documentation without the whole thing turning to muck."

Andy looked suspiciously well-scrubbed. "Jack done with you, then?"

"Looks that way. Packed everything that can be packed, left everything else out to dry." He squinted and crouched down to look at the object Owen was working on. "Shame. I wonder what it did? S'like that Greek thing they found a few years ago. The...something-or-other mechanism."

He stood and stuck his thumbs in his jean pockets. "Anyway, figured I'd pop up, see if you needed help with anything. Heavy lifting and all that."

Owen nodded. "Yeah, need to get the portable MRI out." He gestured to it, crammed into a corner. "I've got a couple things that need scanning, then Tosh can have it."

Andy followed Owen's gesture and nodded. The unit weighed about 30 kilos, but was a bit unwieldy, and probably too heavy for Owen to move on his own with an only mostly-healed arm.

"We really ought to put this thing on a rolling cart," he said as he looked for a good way to lift it. "Would be easier."

"Usually we just bring shit to it, which defeat the point of portable, I know," Owen said, "but mostly we do the work up here, so nobody bothers." He edged further into the corner, halfway behind the second workstation. "Here, you lift it by those rails, I've got this bit." Together they hefted it off the table.

Adam wandered up the stairs to the greenhouse, fiddling with his cuffs slightly. Ianto had given him a good idea where the rest of the team was, and there were two people he wanted to find first.

The two of them were concentrating on the machinery they were carrying, not paying him any attention at all, and he took a moment to study them. He couldn't see it, but he could feel it, the connection between the two of them, jagged and unwhole. They leaned in towards each other, heads bowed, but incomplete.

He laid a hand on each of their shoulders. "Need any help with this?"

Owen froze as a hand fell on his shoulder. His grip on the MRI machine tightened instinctively.

Andy waited for the door to close behind Jack before he turned Owen’s way. “You alright?”

Owen felt -- empty. Pearl had promised, more than anything else, that he wouldn't be alone again. But she was gone, Andy had thrown himself into the ring instead, and the idea of having to part from that, again, gnawed at him.

"Fuck no," he said at last, with a weak chuckle. His voice sounded different, Welsh pronunciation creeping in. But he kept thinking there should be more. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking away. "Hell, whatever Jack did to get us back, I don't ever want to have to do again. I'll take the cryos next time, thanks."

The room was too small.

Andy gave Owen a conspiratorial grin. "The lead-in was pretty alright, though. You seemed to enjoy it, at least."

Owen frowned. "What? There wasn't any lead-in. What're you talking about?"

Andy blinked. "You don't remember?" He reached out as Jack had reached out to touch Owen's face just along the hairline before he cupped Owen's face lightly. "He kissed you. He kissed all of us. I can show you if you want. So you remember."

Up close, Owen could smell Andy, familiar and right, all his senses reaching out to find those nuances that he'd been missing ever since he'd woken up in a bed of straw, ninety years ago. The hand on his hip and the lips against his weren't enough, he wanted to crawl inside him, never leave. Owen fisted his hand in Andy's shirt and tugged him down to deepen the kiss, tongue lapping against teeth, pressing and seeking.

Mine mine mine, he thought, but it wasn't possessive. It just ... was.

Andy flinched and turned his head. He only had a split second before his eyes unfocused. A tiny noise of protest rose unbidden from his throat, but --

Owen paused and licked his lips. "I think I'd remember that. You're having me on."

"I'm not. I
wouldn't," Andy said, and stole a glance Ianto's way to check that he was still asleep. Owen hadn't pushed him away, which made him nervous, but not so nervous he didn't risk getting closer. "I can show you if you want. So you remember."

Owen's hand was warm even through the fabric of Andy's t-shirt. He imagined that Owen could feel the ache beneath it, and for all he knew, maybe Owen could. The brush of breath when Owen said "Show me" bolstered his courage even as he closed his eyes and pressed his lips to Owen's.
Not alone now. Never alone, he thought fervently.

Owen smiled politely and shook his head. "No thanks, should be good. But we'll let you know when we're done with it, Tosh is going to need a go with it too."

Adam squeezed his shoulder once then let go. God, it would be so easy to get lost in those two. They were --

He shook his head. "If you're sure." He grinned at Andy. "I suppose you're making sure he's taking it easy."

"Yeah," Andy answered. He pinked a little when he said it, partly because there was something in Adam's grin that always seemed to suggest slightly more than work. Not that that wasn't true, but it wasn't like that. Except that it sort of was, considering what he and Owen had been doing while the others were out on the trawl.

They moved the MRI to the table and set it down, each compensating for the other's moves with unnatural ease. Andy took a step along the edge of the table to close the gap between himself and Owen. "You done with clean-up, then?" he asked.

Adam nodded. "Just going to go help Jack with the last of it." He tilted his head a little. "Find anything good?"

Owen leaned into Andy slightly. "Bit of everything. Nothing toxic this time, but nothing working either. Still got to check on the microoganism cultures. All the samples are cleared, though. I'll take anything fun down to Tosh soon."

Adam nodded. "Right. I'll let you get on with it, then. Jack's called a meeting in the boardroom, so come down when you're done."

He headed down to the garage, world solid and singing beneath his feet.
